We have an exciting opportunity to join Sanofi's Translational Biology team as a Senior Principal Scientist within the Type 2 Immunology cluster. This role sits at the intersection of cutting-edge preclinical research and clinical development, offering a unique platform to shape the trajectory of one of the industry's most compelling immunology portfolios. Working at our Cambridge Crossing research campus, you will contribute to a team with deep commitment to scientific excellence and patient impact across dermatology, gastroenterology, respiratory, and rheumatology.

This position carries a dual mandate. Leading preclinical research programs from hypothesis generation through execution, while also serving as to support early clinical and/or late-stage or marketed product programs. In this capacity, you will drive translational research strategies that inform clinical development and support lifecycle management initiatives for assets. You will integrate insights from clinical studies back into research strategy, ensuring a continuous and productive dialogue between both early research, clinical development and medical affairs.

The successful candidate will leverage Sanofi's extensive technical capabilities, including AI enabled platforms, single cell technologies, and multiomic approaches, while collaborating closely with Development, Medical Affairs, and Commercial teams. Main Responsibilities

• Lead preclinical research programs from hypothesis generation through experimental execution, integrating findings into broader clinical strategy. 
• Directly support early clinical and or late stage or marketed product programs, translating clinical insights back to research and driving translational strategies to support clinical decision making and asset life cycle management. 
• Design and execute research programs in close partnership with Development, Medical Affairs, and Commercial teams as part of IEGP to maximize the value of Sanofi's portfolio.
• Independently formulate research hypotheses and apply scientific expertise to design and execute experiments using murine and human immunology approaches. 
• Develop novel in vitro and in vivo assays and apply advanced technologies including single cell approaches (flow cytometry, scRNAseq), multiomics, and imaging platforms. 
• Lead cross functional collaborations and manage stakeholder relationships effectively across a matrixed global organization. 
• Communicate research findings clearly and compellingly to diverse audiences, both technical and nontechnical, internal and external. 
• Mentor and actively support the scientific and professional development of junior team members. 
• Stay at the forefront of scientific advances and contribute to the strategic direction of the group. 
• Maintain laboratory activity while providing scientific leadership; this role has an expectation of bench engagement as necessary.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards, laboratory conduct, diligent ELN record keeping and Sanofi's code of conduct.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

• PhD in Immunology, neuroimmunology, molecular biology, pharmacology or related fields with 8+ years of relevant experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting. Or equivalent: Master's + 10 years of experience; Bachelor's + 12 years of experience).
• Demonstrated experience leading preclinical research projects or key contributor on early clinical and/or late-stage or marketed product programs, this is a critical requirement for this role
• Proven track record in translational research supporting clinical development and/or lifecycle management 
• Strong expertise in human and murine immunology and inflammatory disease pathways 
• Experience with advanced technologies including single cell approaches (flow cytometry, scRNA-seq), molecular techniques, and multi-omic platforms 
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional, matrixed environments with Development, Medical Affairs, and/or Commercial teams 
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across diverse audiences 
• Strong team player with a collaborative mindset and genuine commitment to supporting others 
• Demonstrated mentorship capabilities and track record of developing junior scientists
• Record of scientific publications and presentations in high impact peer-reviewed journals
• Experience with external academic collaborations and working with CRO

Preferred Qualifications:

• Direct experience in Type 2 inflammatory diseases (dermatology, respiratory, GI, rheumatology)
• Experience with clinical biomarker strategy development and implementation
• Hands-on experience with human tissue biopsies (skin, lung, gut), mouse disease models, and or organoid systems
• Experience contributing to regulatory submissions or clinical trial design
