Job Summary
- Assists the professional staff nurse in the care of the patient.
- Assists in meeting basic physical and psychological needs of the patients and their families.
- Assists in meeting the environmental needs of the units and contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit.
- Performs related work as required and/or assigned by registered professional nurse. Responsibilities: Lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- · Assist with the safe transport, transfer, positioning and movement of patients, including obese and bariatric patients weighing 250-300 pounds or more, utilizing proper body mechanics and approved patient-handling equipment
- . Move transport & set up medical equipment and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
- Respond quickly to urgent and emergency situations while maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Work in a fast-paced perioperative environment and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, infection prevention practices, patient safety protocols and confidentiality requirements.
- · Maintain flexibility to work varying shifts, including days, alternate weekends, holidays and overtime as operational needs require.
- · Perform all other duties as assigned in support of the daily operations of the Operating Room.
Qualifications
- High School Degree or GED equivalent
- One year of Hospital experience or equivalent combination training or experience
- Excellent communication, teamwork and customer service skills while interacting with patients, physicians, nurse and other healthcare professionals
