We’re looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our Platform Services function. Reporting into the Network Engineering leadership team, this role will provide deep hands-on technical expertise across FNZ’s enterprise network estate, supporting the stability, performance, security, and ongoing optimisation of our on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Network Engineer, you’ll be a key technical contributor within the regional Network Engineering team, helping to maintain, improve, and evolve secure, resilient, and high-performing network services across FNZ.

Your responsibilities will include:

Network Operations & Engineering

• Supporting the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of FNZ’s enterprise network infrastructure

• Acting as a senior escalation point for complex network incidents and service issues

• Troubleshooting and resolving network performance, availability, and connectivity issues

• Supporting lifecycle management activity including upgrades, patching, configuration improvements, and infrastructure refreshes

• Ensuring network services remain highly available, secure, and aligned to business needs

Design, Delivery & Improvement

• Contributing to the design and delivery of network solutions for new and existing systems

• Working with Network Architecture to implement new tooling, infrastructure, and network capabilities

• Evaluating existing technologies and recommending practical improvements

• Helping to enhance automation and reduce manual, repeatable network tasks

• Supporting continuous improvement of operational procedures, standards, and documentation

Collaboration & Stakeholder Support

• Working closely with Platform Services, Infrastructure, Security, Cloud, and business teams to deliver reliable network outcomes

• Supporting project delivery alongside BAU operational responsibilities

• Providing clear technical updates, recommendations, and analysis to engineering leads and stakeholders

• Translating technical issues into clear business impact, risks, and resolution options

What we’re looking for

You’ll be a highly capable hands-on network engineer who thrives in complex, high-availability environments and understands the importance of secure, resilient infrastructure in supporting business-critical platforms.

Essential experience:

• Strong experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise-class network environments

• Experience supporting complex network infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and public cloud environments

• Strong incident response and problem-solving experience in business-critical environments

• Strong understanding of network availability, performance, resilience, and security principles

• Technical expertise and practical experience in: 

• Strong experience with Cisco Nexus switching technologies

• Advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 network design and troubleshooting

• Proven expertise in OSPF and BGP routing protocols

• Overlay and fabric technologies such as VXLAN and NSX-T

• Network security principles and secure network design

• Traditional ADN platforms, including F5 LTM/GTM

Desirable experience in the below areas would be advantageous:

• Checkpoint and Fortigate firewall solutions

• F5 Distributed Cloud

• Network automation and orchestration, such as Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD pipelines

• Cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or GCP

• LogicMonitor or similar enterprise-grade monitoring platforms
