À propos de ce poste Senior Mechanical Engineer chez Alarm.com
Alarm.com (ADC) is a rapidly expanding technology company developing innovative cloud and device solutions that deliver a unified, connected service to millions of residential and commercial properties in the US and abroad. We are seeking a hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our hardware team in Taiwan and drive the mechanical design of connected-home devices, including video doorbells, cameras, sensors, and control modules.
This is an execution-focused senior engineering role. You will personally own the mechanical design of your products from concept through mass production — modeling, prototyping, analyzing, and validating — while working shoulder-to-shoulder with our industrial design, electrical, optical, acoustic, RF, and quality teams, and directly with our manufacturing partners across Asia in the fast-paced development cadence that defines consumer electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Own your product's mechanical design end-to-end: Independently execute detailed mechanical design of consumer electronics products from concept and industrial-design intent through prototyping, validation, and mass production.
-
Design in CAD daily: Create and manage detailed part and multi-part assembly models, maintaining design intent, robust part relationships, and revision discipline (Creo strongly preferred).
-
Build mockups and prototypes: Create mockups and functional prototypes to evaluate concepts, validate fit and function, and accelerate design iteration.
-
Solve build problems with rigor: Plan and execute DOEs and engineering analysis to resolve issues found at EVT/DVT/PVT — sealing and air-tightness, gasket compression, thermal, structural, and cosmetic — and carry solutions into production.
-
Integrate dense subsystems: Package Wi-Fi/BT antennas, camera optics, IR and light guides, speakers/microphones, and thermal solutions into compact, sealed, weatherproof enclosures that meet product requirements across the full range of environmental conditions.
-
Design for manufacturing: Design parts for injection molding, over-molding, silicone (LSR), double-shot molding, die-cast metal, CNC, sheet metal, die-cut, and stamped processes; perform tolerance stack-up analysis and drive DFM/DFA/DFX resolution with vendors.
-
Prepare manufacturing documentation: Produce 2D manufacturing drawings with critical dimensions, tolerances (GD&T), materials, finishes, and colors; prepare BOMs and RFQ packages; document decisions, analyses, assumptions, and risks per team standards.
-
Support builds at the factory: Work directly with tooling vendors and ODM partners through tool bring-up, first articles, and EVT/DVT/PVT builds, including on-site support at manufacturing sites in Asia.
-
Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner closely with Industrial Design, Optics, Acoustics, EE, RF, and QE, and with supplier-quality teams on component and finish issues, to deliver a fully validated product.
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
-
5+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience in consumer electronics, with demonstrated personal ownership of products from concept to mass production.
-
Proficient daily 3D CAD skills with solid assembly-management practice (Creo strongly preferred).
-
Working knowledge of designing parts for injection molding, over-molding, silicone injection molding, double-shot molding, die-cast metal, CNC, sheet metal, die-cut, and stamped processes.
-
Proven experience with tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, and resolving DFM/DFA/DFX feedback with tooling vendors.
-
Experience producing manufacturing-ready 2D drawings, BOMs, and clear engineering documentation.
-
Hands-on experience supporting EVT/DVT/PVT builds at Asia-based manufacturers, with willingness to travel to factory sites.
-
Self-motivated, collaborative, and effective in cross-functional teams under fast development schedules.
-
Strong communication skills with professional working proficiency in both English and Chinese.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Direct experience developing cameras, video doorbells, or similar connected-home devices.
-
Experience with outdoor/sealed products — IP-rated enclosures, gasket and seal design, condensation and solar-load considerations, IK impact resistance.
-
Experience with thermal design for passively cooled, sealed devices.
-
Familiarity with acoustics integration (speaker/microphone sealing), camera optics, IR illumination, and light pipes.
-
Experience running DOEs for process/design problem resolution at builds.
