À propos de ce poste Senior Mechanical Engineer chez AirTrunk
Want to be a part of Asia Pacific & Middle East's (APME) largest, most innovative, and rapidly growing data centre company?
AirTrunk is a hyperscale data centre company with a powerful purpose - to scale and sustain the relentless growth of the region’s digital future. We do this by continuously redefining and delivering the digital infrastructure that meet the needs of our customers - the world’s most transformational companies. And we’re doing so sustainably, for today and tomorrow.
Having opened Australia’s first and largest hyperscale data centres in 2017, we set our eyes on rapid expansion and now operate a platform of hyperscale data centres across the APME region. With backing from our investors, including Blackstone, this is just the beginning…

A Snapshot
As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will report to the Principal Mechanical Engineer and be based at our North Sydney headquarters. You will be a senior discipline specialist supporting AirTrunk's global project pipeline and the continuous improvement of our mechanical global standards, reference designs and Owner-Supplied Equipment (OSE). You will work across Design and Engineering, Design and Innovation, Development, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Operations. You will make an impact in the following ways:
- Provide mechanical engineering input from concept through IFC to ensure designs comply with the AirTrunk Reference Design, Global Minimum Standards - Engineering (GMS-E), approved project requirements and applicable regulations.
- Review designs and provide clear, consistent and practical advice to consultants, AirTrunk Design Management and Site Engineering and Construction teams.
- Work with design teams to identify and implement mechanical solutions that are safe, scalable, repeatable and adaptable across multiple regions.
- Partner with Design and Innovation to provide a mechanical engineering lens on the development and continuous improvement of AirTrunk reference designs.
- Be accountable for the continuous improvement and effective design implementation of assigned mechanical OSE products under the direction and approval of the Principal Mechanical Engineer.
- Identify technical risks, non-compliances, interfaces and value opportunities early, recommending proportionate actions and escalating material decisions to the Principal Mechanical Engineer.
- Convert lessons from design, delivery, commissioning and operations into practical improvements to global standards, reference designs, OSE products and assurance
- Work across multiple regions and projects as required to drive global consistency in mechanical engineering and design solutions
Your Day to Day
- Perform risk-based mechanical design reviews across concept, preliminary, schematic, detailed and IFC stages, documenting findings, actions, owners and required closure
- Assess designs and technical submissions against the AirTrunk Reference Design, GMS-E, mechanical OSE specifications, approved project requirements, applicable codes and customer commitments.
- Provide timely and consistent mechanical guidance to design consultants, Design Management, site engineering, project delivery and commissioning teams, explaining both the requirement and its technical intent.
- Support Design Management in resolving technical issues while preserving its ownership of project design coordination and the project design Project delivery teams and their designers remain responsible for developing and coordinating the design.
- Support design management in reviews of CFD studies against project requirements and global standards
- Identify deviations, non-conformances, assumptions and unresolved risks; recommend technically sound resolution options and escalate departures, waivers or material decisions to the Principal Mechanical Engineer.
- Develop scalable mechanical solutions that accommodate regional climate, water availability, regulations, supply-chain constraints and customer needs without unnecessary divergence from the global baseline.
- Provide structured mechanical input to Design and Innovation on proposed reference design changes, supported by project evidence, technical analysis, performance data and lessons learned.
- Drive assigned mechanical OSE improvement activities, including requirements capture, technical evaluation, product performance reviews, vendor feedback and proposed specification updates, for approval by the Principal Mechanical
- Verify that approved mechanical OSE products and their interfaces are correctly incorporated into project designs, and support resolution of product integration
- Provide subject matter expertise across cooling and thermal systems, ventilation, hydraulics, fuel systems, fire and life-safety interfaces, controls interfaces, water and energy performance, and associated OSE.
- Coordinate mechanical interfaces with electrical, controls and automation, civil, structural, architectural, fire, fuel, hydraulic and commissioning teams.
- Contribute to Safety in Design reviews and ensure material mechanical hazards, assumptions, constraints and residual risks are identified, treated and
- Support Procurement and Supply Chain with technical review of vendor proposals, substitutions and quality risks, and participate in factory acceptance testing or proof-of-concept activities where required.
- Support investigation and resolution of significant site, commissioning and operational issues, completing root-cause analysis and feeding agreed improvements back into future designs and global standards.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and provide the technical analysis needed to balance capital cost, programme, energy and water performance, resilience, operability, maintainability and lifecycle value.
- Share knowledge and mentor engineers and project stakeholders, promoting consistent interpretation and application of AirTrunk's mechanical requirements across
Measures of Success
- Mechanical reviews and technical actions completed to agreed stage-gate timeframes with clear, useful and auditable advice.
- Demonstrable compliance with the AirTrunk Reference Design, GMS-E and mechanical OSE specifications, with fewer repeated deviations, late changes and design-related defects.
- Consistent mechanical guidance across consultants, projects and regions, with scalable solutions adopted where appropriate.
- Assigned mechanical OSE products improved to the agreed plan and correctly implemented in project designs.
- Material mechanical risks, non-compliances and departures identified early and escalated with clear options and recommendations.
- Delivery, commissioning and operational learning incorporated into reference designs, global standards, OSE products and future project reviews.
- Positive stakeholder feedback on technical quality, responsiveness, collaboration and practical problem solving.
