Job Description

Purpose of the role

To develop appropriate data governance frameworks which satisfy business and regulatory control requirements, by monitoring and interpreting statutory and regulatory rules. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification of regulatory change and industry developments that may impact the bank's compliance obligations.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders across the company to align and integrate operational processes with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Development of reports and presentations on compliance performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
  • Development and maintenance of data governance frameworks which satisfy business and regulatory requirements.
  • Provision of guidance and support to teams across the bank on compliance matters, through manuals, training and workshops.
  • Execution of audits and risk assessments and participate in other initiatives to identify potential issues and areas for improvement.

Join us as a Senior Lead - Reputation Risk Oversight at Barclays, where you'll be responsible for driving a robust risk culture by embedding accountability for reputational risk ownership across the business. You will develop and embed robust frameworks, governance and reporting to ensure effective management and escalation of reputational risks. You will lead the identification, high-profile reputational risk assessments, and management of reputational risks across the business. balancing customer outcomes, regulatory expectations and commercial objectives and develop appropriate data governance frameworks and regulatory control requirements, by monitoring and interpreting statutory and regulatory rules. You will ensure that the sustainability requirements and regulatory expectations are adhered to. You’ll be partnering with Legal, Compliance, Corporate Affairs, Operational Risk and Business Leaders to manage material risk themes and incidents. You will lead engagement on Reputational Risk across the whole Barclays UK level senior stakeholders. You will also act as a trusted advisor to senior executives, influencing key business decisions through a reputational risk lens while enabling commercial and customer outcomes.

To be successful as a Senior Lead - Reputation Risk Oversight, you must have the following essential skills:

  • Extensive experience in Reputational Risk, Enterprise Risk, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Public Policy, or a related risk discipline within a large, complex organisation
  • Proven ability to influence and challenge senior executives and stakeholders on high-profile, sensitive, and complex risk matters
  • Deep understanding of the external environment, including regulatory, political, social, sustainability, and customer-related risks and their potential reputational impact
  • Experience designing and embedding risk frameworks, governance, oversight, and reporting processes
  • Demonstrated ability to identify emerging risks, assess potential impacts, and provide practical risk mitigation strategies
  • Great commercial acumen with the ability to balance risk management, customer outcomes, and strategic business objectives
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging at Executive and Board Committee level
  • Experience managing or advising on significant reputational incidents, issues, or crises with customer, media, regulatory, or political implications
  • Deep understanding of corporate affairs, external affairs, media relations, or public policy environments

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience within Financial Services or another highly regulated industry
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), sustainability, and conduct risk frameworks, including evolving regulatory expectations
  • Experience managing or advising on significant reputational incidents, issues, or crises with customer, media, regulatory, or political implications
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide risk activities and driving a robust culture of risk ownership and accountability
  • Relevant professional qualifications in Risk Management, Compliance, Governance, Public Policy, Law, or a related discipline
