About the Role
As a Senior DevOps Validation Engineer, you will build software and automation that validates infrastructure, deployment pipelines and cloud environments before changes reach production. This is not a traditional QA role. You will work as an embedded member of the DevOps organization and apply software engineering principles to infrastructure validation, release confidence and operational resilience. You will develop reusable validation frameworks, automate testing of infrastructure-as-code, verify cloud and networking changes, test failure and recovery scenarios and integrate automated safeguards into CI/CD workflows. You will work closely with DevOps, Platform Engineering, Security and Compliance teams to identify risk earlier in the delivery lifecycle and improve the reliability of Keeper’s cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and build automated validation frameworks for cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code and deployment workflows
- Develop production-quality automation and test utilities using Python, Go or similar programming languages
- Validate AWS infrastructure including VPCs, subnets, routing, NAT gateways, IAM, security groups, load balancers and related services
- Build automated validation for Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible and other infrastructure-as-code implementations
- Integrate infrastructure and deployment validation into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar platforms
- Develop automated integration, regression, smoke, resilience and failure-recovery tests for infrastructure and platform changes
- Test Kubernetes and containerized environments for configuration, reliability, scalability and security
- Verify that application and platform services continue to function correctly as infrastructure and deployment configurations evolve
- Validate infrastructure hardening and configuration against CIS benchmarks, DISA STIGs and applicable compliance requirements
- Build reusable tooling that detects configuration drift, deployment defects and infrastructure regressions before production release
- Analyze logs, metrics and telemetry to troubleshoot complex cloud and infrastructure failures
- Partner with DevOps and Platform engineers to improve infrastructure testability, deployment safety and release confidence
- Contribute to engineering reviews involving infrastructure changes, automation design and operational risk
- Support audit readiness and continuous compliance through repeatable automated validation and technical evidence
- Improve observability and diagnostic capabilities for infrastructure validation workflows
- Use AI-assisted tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar platforms to accelerate coding, debugging, root-cause analysis, technical research and documentation
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering, DevOps engineering, infrastructure automation or similarly code-intensive engineering experience
- Demonstrated software engineering experience developing maintainable automation, frameworks, services or internal engineering tools
- Strong programming skills in Python, Go or another general-purpose programming language used for infrastructure and automation engineering
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals including modular design, testing, debugging, code review and source control
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, NAT gateways, IAM, security groups and load balancing
- Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible
- Experience designing automated validation or testing for infrastructure, deployment pipelines or distributed systems
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar technologies
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of Linux environments, networking and cloud infrastructure fundamentals
- Experience troubleshooting infrastructure and distributed-system issues using logs, metrics and observability platforms such as Datadog
- Experience with Git-based software development workflows, pull requests, peer review and automated delivery practices
- Understanding of reliability concepts including fault tolerance, failure recovery, deployment safety and operational resilience
- Familiarity with security hardening or compliance requirements such as CIS benchmarks, DISA STIGs, FedRAMP, SOC 2 or ISO 27001
- Ability to collaborate effectively with DevOps, Platform Engineering, Security and Compliance teams on complex technical problems
- Ability and willingness to use AI-assisted development tools effectively to improve coding, debugging, analysis and documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building internal developer tools, validation frameworks or infrastructure automation platforms
- Experience with automated infrastructure testing frameworks such as Terratest, pytest or similar technologies
