RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems Analysis, Configuration & Technical Excellence
- Maintain and administer Workday Benefits and Absence modules, including benefit plans, eligibility rules, open enrollment and life event configuration, leave plans, and accrual rules; serve as the primary functional and technical expert for these domains.
- Design and configure multi-step business processes, and lead end-to-end testing cycles for annual open enrollment, plan year changes, and leave policy updates, confirming downstream impacts with stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Workday configuration, calculation, and reporting issues by designing durable fixes and evaluating cross-system impacts using systems thinking.
- Provide backup support for Payroll and Time Tracking module administration, partnering with the Payroll and Time Tracking Administrator to ensure continuity of coverage.
Data Integrity & Quality
- Ensure data accuracy and system integrity across Benefits and Absence, including enrollment audits, deduction reconciliation with Payroll, and carrier and vendor eligibility reconciliation; lead audit data work and implement data quality improvements.
- Write, maintain, and support standard and custom Workday reports and dashboards; ensure system outputs comply with controls and proactively surface insights to stakeholders.
- Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including configuration workbooks, test results, and help guides across all assigned modules.
Integrations & Vendor Partnership
- Support and monitor benefits carrier and vendor integrations (such as medical, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA/FSA, and leave management vendors); resolve file errors, eligibility discrepancies, and enrollment mismatches.
- Partner with benefits brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators on annual plan changes, regulatory updates, and data feed requirements.
Process Optimization, Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Review, assess, and recommend improvements to HRIS workflows, user experience, and system processes; design scalable solutions that reduce manual effort and drive operational efficiency.
- Design and implement multi-step automations that streamline HR workflows; integrate AI-enabled tools to improve accuracy and delivery speed.
- Develop and maintain end-user procedures, guidelines, training materials, and documentation; own training design and delivery for open enrollment, system updates, and platform change readiness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Customer Partnership
- Lead requirements definition and solution validation with HR, Benefits, Leave Administration, Payroll, and business stakeholders; serve as a trusted advisor recommending system improvements grounded in user feedback and business needs.
- Lead project workstreams for Workday module implementations and enhancements, aligning system decisions to project goals and driving cross-functional alignment.
- Facilitate strong business partnerships with internal stakeholders, keeping all relevant parties informed, enabling meaningful feedback loops, and representing the HR Technology team with excellence.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of HRIS experience with a strong focus on Workday Benefits and Absence module configuration and administration.
- Strong understanding of HCM design, structure, functions, and processes, including business process workflows, advanced reporting capabilities, and overall system compliance.
- Working knowledge of the following HR business domains: Benefits Administration and Absence/Leave Management, including applicable regulations (such as ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, and state and local leave laws).
- Organized, detail-oriented, and effective communicator capable of translating complex technical configurations into clear guidance for HR and business stakeholders.
- Self-starter with a strong desire to seek optimal solutions, share discoveries with colleagues, and drive exceptional results.
- Excellent customer service skills and enthusiasm for developing strong partnerships with internal users and leadership.
- Experience with management of SOX/internal compliance audits preferred.
