SUMMARY:
This is a Bristol Myers Squibb role dedicated to supporting the RayzeBio radiopharmaceutical business. The Senior Director, RayzeBio Field Market Access & Customer Engagement is accountable for setting and driving the strategic direction of all field market access activities for the RayzeBio radiopharmaceutical portfolio. This leader will architect and continuously refine the national Site of Care access, reimbursement, and pull-through, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and evolving market dynamics. A critical aspect of this role is to coach, mentor, and empower the Market Access and Customer Engagement team of Field Reimbursement Managers (FRMs), enabling them to execute with excellence and agility across all phases of account onboarding, launch readiness, post-onboarding, and patient-level access support. The leader will build this capability ahead of launch, bringing a proven playbook for the payer and reimbursement aspects of radiopharmaceutical treatment-site activation and for converting site readiness into patient pull-through, partnering with Commercial Operations, Clinical Theranostics Specialists (CTS), and the payer-focused matrix team. A core responsibility of this role is ensuring the team delivers timely, compliant patient-level access support to treatment sites for enrolled patients, meaning assistance with benefits verification, prior authorization, appeals, coding, and billing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and communicate a clear, forward-looking strategy for Market Access & Customer Engagement, integrating payer dynamics, reimbursement trends, and competitive intelligence
- Partner cross-functionally with Pricing & Access Strategy, Brand Marketing and Sales, Commercial Operations, Field HEOR, Payer Market Access and Strategic Accounts, Patient Access Support Services, and other matrix teams to ensure cohesive execution of strategic priorities
- Anticipate and proactively address national and regional market access challenges, informing continuous improvement of access strategies and objectives to guide execution
- Steward the complex and unique radiopharmaceutical site-of-care economic model, ensuring a deep and actionable understanding of site-specific economics and reimbursement methodologies. Leverage this expertise to inform evaluation of access dynamics across applicable care settings
- Actively drive team to build intimate knowledge of their accounts (including account payer mix, overall access dynamics, decision making processes, operational considerations, financial considerations, etc.) to ensure seamless access today and in the future.
Account Strategy & Site Readiness:
- Partner cross-functionally with Commercial Operations, Medical (MSLs and CTS), and Field HEOR on account profiling and segmentation, owning the market access components (payer mix, coverage and reimbursement readiness, and site economics) to help identify the levers that drive formulary approval, site activation, and adoption
- Contribute the market access perspective to the strategic account framework (safety and efficacy, economic value, and distribution/logistical efficiency) and translate it into account-level access plans across IDNs, academic centers of excellence, regional health systems, community oncology and urology practices, physician groups, and VA/DoD sites of care
- Own the payer and reimbursement components of treatment-site activation, including coverage, coding, billing, and prior authorization readiness and the supporting SOPs, and partner cross-functionally with CTS, MSLs, Commercial Operations, and Trade & Distribution on the remainder of site activation, from initial engagement and institutional buy-in (e.g., P&T, formulary, and value-analysis committees) through site readiness (licensing, radiation safety, nuclear pharmacy, and ordering workflows), referral pathway development, and first-patient treatment
- Partner with the Pricing & Contracting Lead to support account-level execution of purchase agreements, GPO partnerships, and rebate strategy, including business-case analytics that demonstrate site-level economics, in partnership with Field HEOR
- Partner with Trade & Distribution and Commercial Operations on site readiness and on distribution and delivery partners, including radiopharmacy, specialty distribution, and 3PL partners
- Educate treatment sites on coding, coverage, and reimbursement considerations, and partner with the Payer Market Access and Strategic Accounts (MASA) team to bring payer-specific insight (e.g., medical policy, local coverage, prior authorization dynamics) to site-level planning.
Site Access Support & Patient Pull-Through:
- Lead the FRM team in providing patient-level access support to treatment sites (benefits verification, prior authorization, appeals, coding, and billing), serving as the field point of contact for access questions on enrolled patients and following each patient through treatment scheduling and dose delivery
- Advise Patient Access Support Services, Trade & Distribution, and the payer-focused matrix team on access support workflows, escalation pathways, and hand-offs, bringing field insight on site needs and ensuring the FRM team operates effectively within them, recognizing that radiopharmaceutical dose scheduling is time-sensitive and delays can jeopardize treatment
- Monitor patient access progression and outcomes (e.g., time to treatment, denials and appeals, delays, and abandonment) and use trends to drive site education, payer insight, and process improvements
- Partner with Patient Access Support Services, Trade & Distribution, and the Payer Market Access and Strategic Accounts (MASA) team to resolve coverage, reimbursement, and logistical barriers at the patient level
- Ensure all patient access support and customer engagement activities are documented in approved systems and adhere to privacy (HIPAA), compliance, and BMS policy requirements.
Launch Readiness & Team Build:
- Recruit, onboard, and develop the Field Reimbursement Manager (FRM) team ahead of launch, defining roles, site and account alignment, training, and performance expectations in a net-new organization
- Partner with Commercial Operations, CTS, and Medical on pre-launch account engagement and site-readiness planning, owning the payer and reimbursement readiness elements, tracking account progression from identification through activation and first treatment, and translating learnings into pull-through playbooks and field resources
- Establish a field advisory forum to capture frontline insights, drive process improvement, and guide the development of field resources that support customers and sites
- Partner cross-functionally with Commercial (Marketing, Sales, and Commercial Operations), Medical, Field HEOR, Clinical Operations, Technical Operations, and the Payer Market Access and Strategic Accounts (MASA) team to prepare the organization for launch.
Coaching & Execution:
- Serve as a strategic coach to team members fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and professional growth
- Guide Field Reimbursement Managers in translating strategy into actionable plans, setting measurable goals, and monitoring performance against key metrics
- Conduct regular field rides and coaching sessions, providing real-time feedback and development opportunities.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the execution of access and reimbursement strategies, ensuring compliance and operational rigor
- Lead the development and implementation of annual performance metrics aligned Corporate, Market Access, and RayzeBio organizational objectives
- Monitor and report on performance metrics, leveraging data to drive decision-making and optimize outcomes
- Lead the FRM team, in partnership with Training & Operations resources, to continuously optimize and streamline operational components related to both the capture of customer engagement efforts and day to day patient-level pull through.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work cross functionally with the Pricing & Access Strategy team, Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Field Matrix team leadership (across Commercial, including Marketing, Sales, and Commercial Operations; Medical; and Field HEOR), Patient Access Support Services, Trade & Distribution, US Field Access Team, US policy, legal, and compliance to ensure market access product objectives are met
- Represent the field market access and customer engagement team with senior internal and external stakeholders, advocating for patient and customer needs while advancing BMS’s strategic objectives
- Ensure timely escalation and resolution of critical issues, involving appropriate stakeholders as needed.
People Development:
- Champion a culture of inclusion, integrity, and continuous learning
- Identify and develop future leaders within the field market access organization.
