Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology
Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips - Working for tomorrow today.
Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.
Your role
You will be responsible for the design, development and evaluation of connection systems for optical, mechanical and electrical interfaces in complex opto-mechatronic modules
You will draw on your experience in the design of connectors, cables, fibre-optic and high-speed connections, and evaluate technical solutions in terms of signal integrity, power integrity, EMC, robustness and suitability for series production
You will manage development and design tasks independently, coordinate requirements with internal stakeholders, suppliers and external development partners, and oversee solutions from specification through to qualification
You will support interdisciplinary teams with your technical judgement, experience in troubleshooting and verification, and a keen eye for risks, interdependencies and feasibility
You will draw up and review technical documentation, specifications, test reports and acceptance criteria, thereby contributing to the robust validation of new connection technologies.
Your profile
A degree in electronics, mechatronics, optoelectronics, physics or a comparable subject
Extensive professional experience in the development of connection technologies, ideally in demanding industrial, research or high-tech environments
In-depth knowledge of high-speed connections, optical data transmission, fibre optics, RF connections, connector and cable design, and their integration into complex electronic systems
Experience in the technical evaluation, verification, qualification and troubleshooting of electronic or optoelectronic systems, including environmental, reliability and stress testing
Confidence in dealing with suppliers, development partners and internal stakeholders, as well as experience in specification, interface and acceptance management
A strong ability to justify technical decisions in a clear and comprehensible manner, to pass on knowledge and to communicate complex issues in a way that is appropriate to the audience
Fluent in German and very good command of English
