Job Description

Role Overview:

This role designs and produces a wide variety of digital, graphic and/or illustrative material, also provides input in the development of the OM Brand standards.

It is also the design function for the e-commerce team as well as being competent to execute BTL collateral. The position is therefore also responsible for delivering effective, aesthetic, on-brand, and on-strategy creative for websites, web pages, product graphics, email promotional creative, email templates, social media graphics, motion elements, banner ads, bespoke PPT presentations while also being able to work on physical design elements such as pullup banners, brochures, campaign identities and integrated campaigns. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through efforts of others over periods of up to a year.

Key Result Areas:

 

• Assist outside agencies regarding Brand Standards.
• Provides input into the development of the OM Brand standards and ensures that all work is Brand compliant.
• Works with clients to ascertain needs and to develop graphic directions, concepts and specifications for assigned projects.
• Plans production schedules for various steps in the design process; analyse and projects development costs and develops project budgets and workflow.
• Identifies specialist vendors as appropriate to the project, recommends contractors.
• Oversees the production process.
• Provides technical advice and guidance. 
• Supervise other Designers and Desk Top Publishers.
• Shares relevant and important info with team.
• Implements new ideas and devises potential solutions.
• Produce the design and production for websites, product graphics, social media graphics and banners, static and rich banner ads, email campaigns, and email templates and basic motion elements.
• Translate product positioning, existing research, and offline/online marketing strategies into effective designs.
• Work with e-commerce team and internal and external developers to ensure aesthetics also are aligned with usability, accessibility, and web/mobile standards.
• Work with the Design Manager to translate and create marketing requirements into compelling, appropriate campaigns and designs.
• Produce digital design work, including banner sizing and versioning.
• Ensure consistency of brand and creative across digital customer touch points.
• Provide design support to other business lines to create product graphics, logos, identity design, or other similar offline graphics.
• Analyze projects development costs and develops project budgets and workflows.
• Designs and produces a wide variety of graphic and/or illustrative material. Plans production schedules for various steps in the design process.

Requirements: Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design/Diploma in Graphic Design from a Technikon or Art School and/or bachelor’s degree/Diploma in digital design, graphic design, graphic communications or related field.

• 5 – 7 years’ experience as a Senior Graphic Designer and/or at least 5 years graphic design experience including advertising

• Must have an understanding of digital design, emailers newsletters and social media.

• Strong portfolio showcasing high-end digital design skills.
