About the Role : 

We are undertaking a strategic modernization initiative to transform an established Spring-based Java web application from a modular monolith (modulith) into a modern cloud-native platform. 

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Modernization Java Full Stack Engineer who is passionate about evolving enterprise software and has experience modernizing existing applications rather than only building greenfield solutions. 

You will contribute to current product development while helping shape and execute a modernization roadmap that improves scalability, maintainability, developer productivity, observability, and deployment automation. 

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys balancing practical business delivery with long-term technical transformation.

Key Responsibilities: 

Product Development 

• Design and implement new application features across frontend and backend components. 

• Develop robust REST APIs and business services using Java and Spring technologies. 

• Participate in solution design, code reviews, testing, and release activities. 

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, UX designers, QA engineers, and DevOps teams. 

• Collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams, ensuring seamless communication and coordination for successful project outcomes. 

• Improve application quality through automated testing and clean coding practices.

Modernization & Cloud Transformation 

• Assess existing application architecture and identify modernization opportunities. 
• Incrementally evolve the modulith architecture toward cloud-native design principles. 
• Modernize deployment pipelines and development workflows. 
• Improve observability through logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring. 
• Introduce cloud-native patterns where they provide measurable business value. 
• Define strategies for service decomposition and bounded contexts when appropriate. 
• Help establish engineering standards, best practices, and architectural guardrails. 

Engineering Excellence 

• Champion automated testing, CI/CD, code quality, and secure development practices. 
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the team. 
• Drive performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability improvements. 
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision making. 

Requirements

Job Requirements: 

• 8+ years of professional software development experience. 

• Strong proficiency in Java and experience with Kotlin. 

• Strong hands-on experience building modern web applications using TypeScript and React, with proficiency in state management solutions such as Redux and modern frontend tooling.

• Extensive experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs. 

• Cloud native development experience on platforms like Azure (Preferred) and knowledge of Cloud Foundry  

• Experience working with large enterprise applications and legacy modernization initiatives. 

• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and (Cloud) software architecture patterns. 

• Strong experience in (Cloud) Security to promote secure and compliant code. 

• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SAP HANA, SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2. 

• Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development practices. 

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 

• Experience working in Agile development environments. 

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in distributed teams. 

• Be fluent in English
