Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Career Services, the Senior Career Coach provides senior professional expertise and specialized-finance-career coaching for career development services supporting finance programs (MMF, MMFL, MBA – finance, and HIM). The incumbent drives the development of finance career education and employer engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with Faculty priorities, labour market trends, employer expectations, and graduate employment outcomes.

Acting as a senior subject matter and industry expert and advisor, works in close partnership with the MMF Career Coach, and supports Faculty leadership, academic program teams, employers, alumni, and career services staff through advanced finance coaching expertise, and the development of high-impact programming and partnerships.


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Career Services Planning & Development

  • Shape the approach for finance-career programming for MMF, MMFL, MBA (finance) and HIM (BCom), in close collaboration with the MMF Career Coach and aligned with Faculty and University priorities.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term plans to strengthen employment outcomes, employer engagement, student readiness, and overall service excellence.
  • Conduct labor market and industry analysis to inform programming, employer outreach, and strategic priorities.
  • Advise Academic Program Directors and Faculty Leadership regarding finance-related student employability, labor market conditions, curriculum alignment, and career-related initiatives, contributing to the Faculty’s reputation, rankings, and market positioning through graduate employability efforts.

2. Advanced Coaching, Industry Expertise & Program Leadership

  • Provide specialized, high-level guidance to students pursuing careers in finance-related sectors, including advanced preparation for competitive recruitment processes, technical interviews, networking, and market-specific career pathways.
  • Provide coaching to students and recent alumni on selecting career directions, complex career planning and employment matters.
  • Lead the development and continuous enhancement of finance-specific career education programming aligned with employer expectations, technical interview demands, and student employment outcomes.
  • Contribute finance-specific best practices, tools, and quality standards to enhance the Career Coach’s practice and strengthen consistency in student messaging across programs.

3. Employer Relations & Operational Oversight

  • Represent the Faculty and Career Services team at senior-level meetings, employer engagements, and industry events.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to cultivate strategic employer, alumni, and industry partnerships that expand recruitment opportunities and strengthen employer engagement.
  • Provide oversight of employment analytics, reporting processes, and career services systems supporting rankings, accreditation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to systems, processes, and service delivery models.

4. Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as a senior resource to the Career Services team on finance-related career practices, market intelligence, and advanced technical interview preparation. Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives related to student success, graduate employability, and employer engagement.
  • Provide senior professional expertise and guidance to stakeholders across the Faculty including on finance labor markets trends, student employability, and curriculum alignment.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in the Finance sector, ideally in a variety of roles (corporate finance, banking, investment banking, etc.); 
  • Demonstrated experience in senior-level career coaching, employer engagement, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience working with graduate and undergraduate business students and employer recruitment environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of labour market trends, recruitment practices, and career development strategies.
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • High degree of independent judgment and strategic decision-making in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, manage confidential information with discretion, and operate effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • High level of professionalism, initiative, and client-service orientation.
  • Bilingual (French/English) required.
  • The position averages approximately two (2) days per week over the course of the year, with workload fluctuations requiring increased availability during peak preparation and recruitment periods and reduced time commitments during quieter periods.
  • Availability for occasional travel to support recruitment and career services activities and events.
