Role purpose: 

• We are looking for a Senior Consultant / Senior Associate to join our Strategy& team with a primary focus on Consumer Markets, including retail, FMCG, e-commerce, distribution and related consumer-facing sectors. 

• The ideal candidate will bring proven Consumer Markets experience from a multinational, regional market leader or consulting firm, combined with the ability to work in a consulting environment: structure complex problems, develop hypotheses, conduct analysis, build client-ready PowerPoint deliverables and translate insights into clear strategic recommendations. 

• The role requires strong commercial acumen and practical understanding of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan markets, including local consumer trends, competitive dynamics, retail formats, FMCG distribution models, sales channels and go-to-market specifics. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Support and lead workstreams in strategy, commercial transformation, market entry, growth strategy, operating model, sales effectiveness, pricing, revenue growth management and performance improvement engagements for Consumer Markets clients 

• Apply industry knowledge in retail, FMCG, e-commerce, distribution and consumer goods to develop practical and actionable recommendations 

• Structure ambiguous business problems, decompose them into hypotheses, analytical workstreams and clear outputs 

• Conduct market, customer, competitor, channel, product, pricing, sales, category, distribution and profitability analysis 

• Develop consulting-style PowerPoint presentations, storylines, executive summaries, meeting notes, status reports and project tracking materials 

• Ensure deliverables are client-ready, logically structured and supported by strong vertical and horizontal logic 

• Work with client teams to collect data, conduct interviews, facilitate workshops, validate findings and co-create solutions 

• Bring practical understanding of Consumer Markets dynamics in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, including differences in market maturity, consumer behavior, channel structure and competitive landscape 

• Collaborate with PwC and Strategy& experts across territories to bring relevant benchmarks, methodologies and best practices to client work 

• Contribute to proposals, credentials, knowledge assets and Consumer Markets thought leadership 

• Coach junior team members and help ensure high-quality delivery across assigned tasks and workstreams 

Required experience and qualifications: 

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience in Consumer Markets, preferably in retail, FMCG, e-commerce, distribution, consumer goods or adjacent sectors 

• Experience in multinational companies or leading regional players is strongly preferred 

• Proven experience in one or more of the following functional areas: marketing, Sales/Commercial, RGM, Category management, Business Development, Strategy  

• Proven ability to work in a consulting environment, including problem structuring, hypothesis development, analytical work, stakeholder management and preparation of client-ready deliverables 

• Strong PowerPoint and storyline development skills, including ability to create structured, concise and visually clear executive-level presentations 

• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with market data, sales data, financials, consumer insights and operational KPIs 

• Ability to interpret multiple project components and translate findings into clear, compelling recommendations 

• Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills 

• Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Finance, Engineering or a related field 

• MBA or master’s degree from a reputable university is a plus 

• Strong command of written and spoken English, Russian is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Kazakh, Azerbaijani or Uzbek is an advantage 

• Advanced MS Office skills, especially PowerPoint and Excel 

• Ability to work in a high-intensity project environment with changing priorities, tight deadlines and senior stakeholder expectations 

Preferred candidate profile: 

The preferred candidate is a strong Consumer Markets professional who has worked in a leading FMCG, retail, e-commerce or distribution business and understands how commercial decisions are made in practice. The person should be able to move from industry expertise into consulting-style work: structure issues, analyze data, build recommendations, prepare senior-level PowerPoint deliverables and communicate clearly with clients. 

Relevant profiles may include: 

• Sales / commercial excellence manager from FMCG or retail 

• Revenue Growth Management / pricing professional 

• Category management / trade marketing professional 

• Strategy or business development professional from a consumer goods, retail or e-commerce company 

• Consultant with strong Retail / FMCG / Consumer Markets experience 

• Regional professional with hands-on exposure to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan markets
