We are looking for an experienced and design-focused Group Leader – Architecture Practice to lead architectural projects, manage multidisciplinary teams, work closely with senior leadership, and build strong client relationships.
This is a leadership role for an architect who can bring together design excellence, project execution, client management, team development, and commercial awareness. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while providing clear direction to architects and designers.
You will be responsible for building an accountable and collaborative team environment while ensuring projects progress effectively from concept and design development through documentation, coordination, and site execution.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Lead an architecture group across concept design, design development, documentation, coordination, and site delivery.
- Manage multiple active projects simultaneously while maintaining design quality, timelines, and delivery standards.
- Work closely with senior leadership on project priorities, design reviews, client expectations, and team performance.
- Lead and mentor a team of approximately 7–15 architects and designers.
- Establish clear responsibilities, workflows, review mechanisms, and accountability across the team.
- Review architectural concepts, design development, drawings, documentation, and project deliverables.
- Provide strong design direction and help teams develop ideas into practical, executable solutions.
- Manage client and consultant communication with professionalism, clarity, and accountability.
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, services, landscape, engineering, and other specialist consultants.
- Identify project risks, dependencies, scope changes, and delivery challenges at an early stage.
- Develop practical action plans to address project, team, client, and commercial risks.
- Monitor project milestones, scope, timelines, billing dependencies, and resource requirements.
- Support group-level bandwidth planning and allocation of teams across projects.
- Maintain awareness of project profitability, commercial implications, and scope creep.
- Conduct regular design and project reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Build a supportive, collaborative, and performance-oriented team culture.
- Contribute to recruitment, capability development, mentoring, and succession planning within the architecture team.
- Ensure projects maintain high standards of design quality, documentation, coordination, and execution.
- Support resolution of complex design, consultant, client, and site-related issues.
- Contribute to the long-term development of architectural processes, standards, and team capabilities.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 12–18 years of experience in architecture, with strong exposure to design, execution, client management, and team leadership.
- Strong architectural design judgment with the ability to develop, evaluate, and advance design concepts.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing architecture teams, rather than solely operating as a senior individual contributor.
- Ability to lead, mentor, delegate, and develop teams of 7–15 architects and designers.
- Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to build long-term professional relationships.
- Proven experience managing multiple complex architectural projects simultaneously.
- Experience across hospitality, residences, clubhouses, commercial, workspace, amenity, or mixed-use developments is desirable.
- Strong understanding of architectural documentation, design development, consultant coordination, and site execution.
- Good commercial awareness with an understanding of scope, milestones, timelines, billing, resource planning, and profitability.
- Ability to identify project risks early and develop practical solutions before issues escalate.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills across clients, consultants, senior leadership, and internal teams.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and ambiguity.
- Comfortable working in a structured, leadership-driven architecture or design practice.
- Strong delegation, mentoring, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to balance design leadership, people leadership, project delivery, and commercial considerations.
- Long-term interest in building and leading an architecture practice or group.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture (B.Arch/M.Arch) from a recognized institution is preferred.
