Job Summary:
The Sales Development Representative (SDR), based in Pune, is a dedicated pipeline-generation engine for OpenGov's US go-to-market team. This role is built for outbound specialists who want to master high-volume prospecting into the US public sector market, working US-aligned hours to connect directly with government decision-makers in real time. You'll partner closely with US-based Sales Development Representatives and Account Executives to build and qualify pipeline.
Responsibilities:
• Generate pipeline for the US market: run high-volume outbound calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach into assigned US territories (cities, counties, special districts, and state agencies)
• Work US-aligned hours: align your schedule to the US territories you support so you're reaching decision-makers in real time
• Qualify inbound and outbound leads against OpenGov's ICP and hand off sales-ready opportunities to US-based Account Executives
• Build enough fluency in OpenGov's cloud-based platform to speak credibly about the problems it solves for cities, counties, and government agencies
• Use Salesforce, Outreach, and LinkedIn daily to manage pipeline, prioritize leads, and log activity with precision
• Clearly and persuasively articulate OpenGov's value to US government decision-makers and quickly establish credibility
• Hit weekly outbound activity and pipeline targets while staying disciplined about lead quality • Collaborate with marketing by following up on inbound and campaign-generated leads to maximize lead-to-opportunity conversion
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in Salesforce for all prospecting activity
Requirements and Preferred Experience:
• 2 to 4 years of experience in sales, a customer-facing role, or anything that sharpened your communication • Excellent spoken and written English, with the confidence to cold-call US-based government decision-makers and quickly build rapport
• Comfortable working US-aligned hours from Pune
• A natural communicator who's confident talking to people you've never met, and knows how to make them glad you called
• Genuinely curious about technology and its role in government, with a competitive drive and real passion for pushing the public sector forward
• Excited by AI and what it means for government: able to speak to it credibly and see it as a differentiator in every conversation
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce or similar) is a plus
• Background in B2B, SaaS, outbound prospecting, BPO, or government is a bonus, but not expected at this level
