Program Overview:   

When you join S&P Global Ratings, you join one of the world's leading providers of independent credit risk research and benchmarks. You are part of a team that produces high quality fundamental research and ratings based on established criteria and benchmarks. The Business Practice Groups include: Corporates, Public Finance, Financial Institutions, Structured Finance, Sovereign and International Public Finance, and Infrastructure.   

The opportunity provides the chance to embark on a dynamic 10-week summer training and development journey that begins in June 2027. Our program offers unparalleled opportunities for growth, learning, and collaboration.   

• You will be offered the opportunity to assist S&P Global in achieving its mission of being a the leading provider of the high quality risk evaluations and analytical insights to the world’s financial markets.  

• Summer interns will gain a thorough introduction into fundamental credit analysis, working with analytical teams within S&P Global Ratings (including ratings committees and management meetings).  

• You will also complete a group project for the duration of the summer program and have the opportunity to collaborate with peers and present your research and conclusions to a group of senior leaders.

Responsibilities:   

Team Contribution & Capability Building 

• Support the team in deal execution and various analytical projects, contributing resourceful ideas in collaborative discussions. 

• Build capability by working with assigned summer intern project teams to successfully complete and present findings and conclusions to senior leaders. 

Core Analytical & Delivery 

• Build capability in credit rating methodologies by learning and understanding standard techniques. 

• Support analysts by providing timely and accurate quarterly financial statistics and data analysis. 

• Support and help maintain high-quality research, presentations, reporting, and modelling. 

• Use AI technologies as an enabler to analyze large datasets and derive actionable insights, integrating them into existing analytical frameworks. 

Stakeholder & Market Engagement 

• Assist with preparing rating committees and issuer management meetings to help produce clear narratives for engagement. 

• Understand the importance of cultivating a customer-oriented, solutions mindset and observe and learn from service excellence in action. 

Risk Management and Operating  

• Apply confidentiality, documentation, and governance requirements.  

• Support pilot/testing under supervision and within defined guardrails. 

What we’re looking for:   

Basic Required Qualifications 

Education 

• Postgraduate & Undergraduate students in their penultimate year of study only.  

• We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines e.g. Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Math, Public Policy, Quantitative Analysis, Data and Statistics. This is as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking and storytelling e.g. Engineering and Sciences, Philosophy, Politics, Classics, Theology, English Language, English Literature and Languages.  

• You must reside in the location of the internship throughout its entire duration.   

• You must have the right to work in the country of proposed employment. 

Team Contribution & Capability Building

• Problem-solving, time-management, attention to detail and organizational abilities. 

• Learning mindset comfortable adopting new tools to enhance quality.

Core Analytical & Delivery 

• The ability and the desire to learn to conduct your own analysis and research, showing initiative and resourcefulness. 

• Strong spreadsheet skills; willingness to learn data/automation tools to improve reliability and consistency, not just speed. 

• Adept with Excel and other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). 

• Familiarity with AI technologies or tools, including Machine Learning Algorithms, Natural Language Processing Tools, and/or Robotic Process Automation, reflecting a forward-thinking approach. 

Stakeholder & Market Engagement 

• Effective written and verbal communicator, able to present research and analysis in a clear, structured way that supports informed decision making. 

• Solutions-oriented mindset to provide service excellence to internal and external stakeholders. 

Risk Management and Operating  

• High standards for accuracy, traceability, and quality control aligned to Integrity.  

• Responsible technology use following policies, protecting confidential information, ensuring AI outputs are verified and appropriately attributed so insights remain trusted. 

Additional Information 

• Fluent command of English Language is essential, as is being fluent in the primary language of the country of application.  

• Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week. 

• Candidates who reach the final stage of the interview process will be asked to attend at least one in-person interview at their nearest S&P Global Ratings office before an offer can be extended.
