The Retail & Rental Store Manager is responsible for Woodward Pennsylvania’s retail and rental store operations. This position oversees the camp retail store, pro shop, rental and repair outlets. The candidate is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations and quality assurance of retail, guest service, rental flow, and sales. This position is responsible for all merchandising, inventory management, loss prevention, training, promotion, maintenance, policy, procedure and staff leadership. A successful candidate will have strong communication skills, proven teamwork, attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks at a time during stressful situations and a proven track record in retail store management. Direct reports include Supervisors, Techs and Associates.

As a core member of the Woodward PA management team, the Retail and Rental Manager is a key player in overseeing special projects, participating in strategy creation and assisting with development of onsite merchandise plans, inventory execution and promotion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Upholds outstanding and effective visual merchandising and staging standards in managed locations.

• Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of the sports retail/rental industry, understand trends, develops good relations with partners and vendors.

• Oversees entry of product Purchase Order's into Woodward’s Accounts Payable system (Coupa) and product descriptions and receipts, invoices into Circuitree (Retail POS and inventory system).

• Contributes to building an annual and seasonal sales/merchandise plan based on historical inputs and other qualitative and quantitative data. 

• Supports and coaches direct reports to ensure the fundamentals of guest service and sales are consistent between all locations and that the teams in every location are working to create a guest environment which is "helpful, animated, and friendly" while assuring sales, service & professional standards are being communicated and upheld.

• Creates and drives a sales culture where staff are upselling and sales targets are clearly understood and accurately reported.

• Loss Prevention monitoring, education & policies/procedures: Establishes and communicates training, process flow, pricing, policies, and procedures for locations to increase sales, effectively manage expenses and mitigate loss (inventory shrinkage).

• Oversight of proper documentation, repair and set up of rental equipment.

• Enforces and leads by example: safety, personnel accountability, and cleanliness in the workplace.

• Ensures locations receive proper training on regulatory requirements, safety, sales, and product information.

• Provides direction to store supervisors and associates on job duties, tasks, and overall responsibilities.

• Maintains positive and productive relationships with other departments, vendors and third-party clients as needed.

• Ensures proper replenishment of retail and rental inventory as needed.

• Oversees accurate accounting of an annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts.

• Ensures guest service, rental and retail POS accuracy and accounting reconciliation.

• Works closely with Manager peers from other divisions to ensure a culture of teamwork, best practices sharing and peer to peer support.

• Develops reward, recognition and animation programming.

• Is a visible member of the team, assisting guests with purchases on the floor daily (being an active member of the sales team).

Guest Service Duties:

• Handles guest escalations and works to resolve customer service situations with staff.

• Works closely with other departments to ensure guest or employee onboarding for camp is completed smoothly.

Preferred Experience and Special Skills

• 3+ years managing a retail store(s)

• 3+ years rental equipment management preferred

• 3+ years managing employees required

• Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent

• Computer skills (Excel, Microsoft office, POS and inventory systems)

• Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of all pre-hire background checks, including criminal history clearance through the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH), child abuse clearance through the Department of Public Welfare, Motor Vehicle Record if required by position and federal background screening via FBI fingerprinting 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Preferred 1+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens. 

• Experience working in a camp environment is preferred.   

• High School degree or equivalent preferred.

PRE-REQUISITES 

Must have or be able to obtain the following prior to starting work: 

Woodward will supply information to assist you in obtaining these if needed.  

• Mandated Reporter Training Certificate.

• Safesport Training Certificate. 

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS 

• Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50 lbs.   

• Must be comfortable working in an outdoor and indoor all-season environment.   

• Adhere to all workplace safety practices, expectations, and guidelines.
