(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through 10/1/2027. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment)
Work Location: Aquatic Germplasm and Genetic Resources Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (www.aggrc.com)
Position Description: This position’s primary purpose is to support the successful execution of research programs through grant compliance monitoring, grant spend plan development, budget tracking, animal husbandry, and technical research support. This position will assist investigators and program staff in maintaing compliance with sponsor requirements, tracking project expenditures, monitoring grant balances, and ensuring research activities align with approved budgets and project objectives. Work after hours including weekends may be required periodically. Familiarity with aquatic species and reproductive biology is strongly preferred. Experience with CAD, 3-D printing, and open hardware is preferred including a strong desire for intersectoral collaboration.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering or a related field. Applicants with a degree in another agricultural or basic science field will be considered qualified provided they possess significant work experience in an area.
- Experience in the public sector and/or a university setting is desirable.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills, along with strong computer skills.
- Understanding of accounting principles
- Knowledge of sponsored research administration, grant compliance requirements, and project management principles
- Proficiency in Workday, Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with federally funded grants (USDA, NSF, NOAA, USFWS, or similar sponsors).
- Comfortability working in a collaborative and evolving environment
- Experience with budget forecasting, cost analysis, and financial planning.
- Familiarity with research compliance requirements, including animal care and use protocols.
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, or automated tracking systems using Excel or similar tools.
- Experience supporting multi-investigator or multi-institutional research projects

About the LSU Agricultural Center:
The LSU AgCenter, is one of eight campuses within the broader LSU enterprise (LSU System). The LSU AgCenter includes the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, which conducts agricultural-based research, and the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, which extends the knowledge derived from research to the people of the state. The AgCenter is headquartered in Baton Rouge and has 12 “on campus” academic departments and five regions which are made up of 15 branch research stations and an extension office in each parish.
