Help Build the Future of Caterpillar

At Caterpillar, technology always has a purpose, which is to solve our customers’ toughest challenges. Through Cat Technology, we are solving problems by building the intelligence layer that connects machines, data, and people to make jobsites safer, more productive, and more sustainable. By combining deep domain expertise in physical systems with software, connectivity, autonomy, and AI, we deliver solutions that work in the real world—on real jobsites, at global scale.

You’ll build and deploy against one of the most unique data foundations—over 1.6 million connected assets generating real-world data daily.  These data and platform capabilities are enabling the development of AI models, edge computing architectures, and software systems that scale across fleets, products, and industries. The result will be a new generation of machines that continuously learn, improve, and deliver performance at scale.

Be Part of What’s Next in Autonomous Construction Sites

Construction autonomy is one of the most complex challenges in applied AI, and at Caterpillar, advancements in physical AI, simulation, sensing, and edge computing are turning things that once felt impossible—intelligent machines operating in dynamic jobsites—into reality.

Our connected ecosystem brings together massive volumes of high-quality data to create a foundation where engineers like you can build and deploy against.

If this work motivates you, we invite you to join our team. In these roles, you’ll work at the intersection of the physical and digital worlds. You’ll help design and deliver intelligent systems that enable machines to perceive their environment, make informed decisions, and support safer, more productive operations.

Apply today to build the new era of construction autonomy at Caterpillar.

Job Summary:

The Release Train Engineer/Cross-Mission Delivery Lead operates the cross-mission execution system for Atlas and the broader CI portfolio cadence. This role connects plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, commitments, and evidence into one disciplined execution flow. The role facilitates alignment and recovery without replacing Product, TPM, Mission Lead, Architecture, Engineering, or delivery-team accountability.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead integrated release planning and maintain a reconciled execution plan across mission teams.
  • Operate the critical path, including baseline and forecast views, dependency classes, float, recovery triggers, and owner validation.
  • Manage cross-mission and cross-organization dependency flow, with clear suppliers, consumers, need-by dates, impacts, escalations, and closure evidence.
  • Run cross-team execution cadences and readiness forums that turn risks, decisions, commitments, and impediments into accountable follow-through.
  • Coordinate release and milestone readiness, including entry and exit criteria, exceptions, mitigations, and Go/No-Go preparation.
  • Operate change-control and replanning processes so material changes are evaluated, dispositioned, communicated, and traceable.
  • Reconcile execution information across Azure DevOps, integrated plans, and reporting products; surface source conflicts and data-quality exceptions rather than manufacturing status.
  • Drive systemic impediment removal and continuous improvement through retrospectives, Inspect and Adapt, and measurable operating-system improvements.
  • Provide concise execution transparency to Portfolio and leadership, including critical-path threats, dependency impacts, recovery options, and decisions required.

What You Will Have:

  • Program Management: Knowledge of practices used to plan, organize, monitor, and control a set of related projects and technical work to achieve program objectives.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Ability to distinguish facts, assumptions, forecasts, and owner judgments; evaluate alternatives; and drive timely, informed decisions.
  • Planning: Tactical and Strategic: Ability to translate objectives and milestones into an integrated, executable plan with credible sequencing, dependencies, checkpoints, and recovery paths.
  • Change Control: Knowledge of processes through which changes are identified, evaluated, approved, monitored, communicated, and documented.
  • Organizational Leadership: Ability to align diverse technical and business stakeholders, clarify roles, establish operating discipline, and influence without relying on direct authority.
  • Project Control and Reporting: Ability to monitor execution health, probe delays, reconcile conflicting sources, and communicate decision-relevant status to technical and leadership audiences.
  • Problem Management: Ability to identify systemic impediments, perform root-cause analysis, coordinate resolution, and prevent recurrence.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience integrating complex programs across multiple teams, technical domains, suppliers, or partner organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and operate integrated plans, critical paths, dependency systems, readiness reviews, and recovery cadences.
  • Experience facilitating scaled or cross-team planning while preserving clear ownership for scope, technical decisions, estimates, and acceptance.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps or comparable work-management tools, including hierarchy, dependencies, history, and reporting traceability.
  • Ability to challenge dates and commitments constructively, expose uncertainty, and convert ambiguity into owners, decisions, actions, and evidence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with technical teams, program leaders, and executives.

Additional Details:

  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time onsite at the Irving, TX office (Dallas)
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position
