Location: Sentara Leigh Hospital – Norfolk, VA

Position Status: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Shifts Open: Permanent Weekends Only Night shift or Regular Night Shift

Available Hours:

7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Weekends: Every Third Weekend for Regular Night Shift

Permanent Weekends:

Fri/Sat/Sun 7p-7a or

Fri/Sat/Sun 11a-11p or

Sat/Sun/Mon 11a-11p

Holiday Rotation: Required

About the Emergency Department

Join a collaborative team serving patients across all acuity levels in an Emergency Department with more than 40 beds and over 100,000 patient visits annually. Multiple treatment areas provide diverse clinical exposure and opportunities to strengthen your emergency nursing skills while contributing to quality outcomes and performance excellence.

What You Will Do

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide competent, patient-centered nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation.

You will apply clinical knowledge and sound judgment while demonstrating professional standards in ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health.

 

Education Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required
• BSN or MSN preferred
• Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Registered Nurse license required
• Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nurse license may be considered
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
• NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred

Experience Requirements

• Prior RN experience preferred
• Emergency Department experience preferred
• Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi-story parking garage. Sentara Leigh Hospital includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital providing patients access to a full continuum of orthopedic care, from the preoperative phase and surgery to rehabilitation and home care services.
