The opportunity:
Our R&D teams develop breakthrough technologies that transform how industries operate. Within Hitachi Energy Power Conversion Solutions, you will join a global, cross-functional organization developing and industrializing high-power conversion platforms for renewable energy and energy storage applications.
As AI Prompt & Agent Specialist, you will design and deliver generative AI copilots, agents and knowledge tools for our power electronics engineers. Your solutions will help teams reuse knowledge, work more consistently and make better-informed decisions, always grounded in approved sources and traceable to them.
Based in Bangalore, you will work closely with R&D, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Quality and Product Management teams locally and across our global organization, as well as with Digital, IT and cybersecurity stakeholders.
This role combines hands-on AI development with strong technical ownership and a serial-production mindset. You will take tools from use case to trusted, measurable, everyday use, supporting safe, reliable, cost-competitive and scalable products throughout their life cycle.
How will you make impact:
- Design, develop and maintain AI prompts, copilots and agent-based workflows that measurably improve power electronics engineering productivity, consistency and quality.
- Translate engineering use cases into clear requirements, data flows, tool architecture, acceptance criteria, risk controls and deployment plans.
- Build retrieval and knowledge solutions grounded in approved product documents, engineering rules and validated data sources, with clear source traceability.
- Create representative evaluation datasets and measure accuracy, traceability, robustness, latency, user adoption and business value before and after release.
- Implement guardrails, human-review steps, permissions, monitoring and auditability, and partner with power electronics experts to validate outputs and prevent unsupported or untraceable engineering conclusions.
- Integrate AI tools with approved enterprise platforms, repositories and engineering applications in close cooperation with Digital, IT and cybersecurity stakeholders.
- Maintain prompts, agents, documentation, versioning, test evidence and user guidance throughout the complete tool life cycle.
- Run pilots, train users, gather structured feedback and continuously improve solutions based on measurable engineering outcomes, contributing reusable AI patterns and knowledge-sharing practices across the global organization.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
- Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
Your Background:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience developing and deploying AI-enabled applications, automation tools or data products in an enterprise or engineering environment.
- Hands-on experience with large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, agent workflows and systematic evaluation methods.
- Strong Python skills and practical experience integrating APIs, databases, document repositories and engineering workflows.
- Knowledge of secure software development, access control, data governance, privacy and responsible AI principles.
- Ability to structure and retrieve technical knowledge from specifications, calculations, test reports, standards and product documentation.
- Understanding of power electronics, or a demonstrated ability to build strong domain knowledge quickly.
- Fluent English, with strong analytical, documentation, communication and stakeholder-management skills in an international environment.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with vector search and embedding-based retrieval.
- Experience with engineering tools used in power electronics design, simulation or documentation.
