Meaningful Work From Day One:

Responsible for ensuring the Food Safety Quality Management System is maintained and meets all relevant requirements. Assists the Quality Manager in supporting the company’s corporate, local and departmental goals, and policies by managing food safety programs program, developing, and executing local compliance policies, and supporting third party certification. Works cohesively with all functional areas to communicate, implement and maintain quality and food safety standards. Responsible for performing the qualitative analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and product samples collected throughout the production process. Operates and maintains precision lab equipment on the shift. Responsible for monitoring and responding to quality issues on the production line. The position will also support production planning, resource allocation, and the day-to-day needs of processing employees while maintaining compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

What You Can Expect

• Engages in food safety and quality culture through support and participation of SQF activities. 

• Conducts and oversees internal GMP inspections, working with all departments to resolve issues. 

• Creates, updates and reviews food safety program documents. 

• Ensures execution of the audit programs for internal and external audits i.e., SQF, B-F QA Audit. 

• Creates and provides food safety and quality training. 

• Performs and directs the monitoring and quality control of products throughout the process as well as package quality for processing and bottling. 

• Monitors the production and processing of malt beverages, bourbon, spirits, and liqueurs to ensure they meet Quality Control requirements.  

• Plans, organizes, and conducts chemical, qualitative, and organoleptic analysis on in-process and finished product samples, incoming beverage alcohol product receipts, and raw materials to ensure adherence to manufacturing and quality standards.  

• Recommends adjustments and corrections to bring products to standard during processing on his/her shift.  

• Performs micro analysis on materials. 

• Monitors finished product on the Bottling lines taking appropriate action, placing materials, or cases on hold as needed.  

• Conducts pre-delivery sample tests for flavors and packaging materials, completing the necessary paperwork, informing appropriate parties, and contacting vendors as needed.  

• Responds to packaging material quality incidents on the line. Measures and assesses packaging material against specifications and writes material discrepancy reports to vendors as required. 

• Conducts daily housekeeping and quality systems audits, making suggestions for improvement when necessary.  

• Maintains calibration on all lab equipment within BFB.  

• Oversees data trends on all products to write variances, adjust specs, change formulas/procedures, and keep other Brown-Forman departments, i.e., Quality Assurance, informed of any significant trends. 

• Facilitates and supports HACCP and Food Safety efforts for the Bottling and Processing organizations.  

• Manages shipments and document creation for shipments of bulk whiskey and spirits for domestic and export tankers
  

What You Bring to the Table:
College/University (Bachelors or Equivalent); Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or four years’ experience in beverage/food industry, analytical methods and laboratory procedures including general laboratory equipment. Experience with SQF or other accredited food safety schemes. 
Ability to work overtime or alternate work schedules, as operations or job duties require.  
Computer literacy with windows, Microsoft products, and Google is required. 
 
Preferred Experience & Education:
Education: College/University (Bachelors or Equivalent); Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Related Field 
Experience: Bachelor’s degree or working toward in Chemistry or related field and 2 years previous experience in the distilled spirits/beverage/food industry, particularly with analytical methods.  May act as back-up SQF practitioner where HACCP certification is required. Current certifications to ship hazardous materials (DOT HazMat, IMDG, IATA) #LI
