Experience

• Two years of experience in neonatal/pediatrics
• One year of experience in management or teaching/education

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Asthma Educator (AE-C)

Education

• Graduate of accredited respiratory therapy program

Certification Summary

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment
• Certified Asthma Educator (AE-C) within one year of employment
• Respiratory Care Professional current Georgia license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
• Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of date of employment

Job Responsibilities

• Develops and implements specific education programs in accordance with accepted teaching standards such as technology dependent, tracheostomy dependent, complex care, aerodigestive, and cystic fibrosis patient and caregiver education.
• Monitors patient/caregiver comprehension and compliance and reinforces/re-educates as needed.
• Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive education as needed to patients and caregivers.
• May deliver respiratory therapies or perform diagnostic procedures as needed.
• Participates in process improvement initiatives and applicable patient programs.
