Role Overview
We’re looking for a delivery-focused Project Manager who can independently manage business change projects and deliver clear, sustainable outcomes across PL Re.
You will bring structure, control and momentum to delivery through disciplined planning, effective governance, sound financial management and proactive oversight of scope, risks, issues and dependencies. Working closely with sponsors, stakeholders and delivery teams, you will create clarity, support timely decisions and ensure that business readiness, adoption and benefits remain central throughout the project lifecycle.
As part of our Project Management Practice, you will contribute to a culture of delivery excellence, consistency and continuous improvement, while sharing knowledge and continuing to strengthen your own capability as a project professional.
At PL Re, we recognise that successful change depends on both strong delivery discipline and engaged people. We invest in our people through Power Skills and professional development, helping our teams stay adaptable, confident and equipped to deliver meaningful business outcomes.
Role Responsibilities
Deliver Business Change projects
- Own the end-to-end delivery of assigned business change projects, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, outcomes, milestones, budget, controls, dependencies, readiness and benefits.
- Own project budget management, including forecasting, tracking actuals, managing variances, identifying financial risks and working with Finance to support business cases and budget reporting.
- Manage formal scope, schedule and cost change control, including impact assessment across cost, time, scope, benefits, risks and resources, securing sponsor approval and maintaining updated baselines and documentation.
- Own and maintain core project controls, including delivery plans, RAID logs, decision logs, stage gates, approvals, governance materials, project reporting and audit trails, ensuring compliance with agreed governance and minimum PMO standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify and manage project resource needs, SME commitments and capacity constraints, escalating resource risks where required to protect delivery outcomes.
- Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies, escalating when needed and driving practical solutions to maintain delivery momentum.
- Own and plan business readiness so change is embedded effectively, ensuring communications, stakeholder engagement, training, bite-size learning materials, hyper care and post-go-live support are built into the delivery plan and budget, with adoption measures used to track whether the change has landed successfully.
Engage and align stakeholders
- Build trusted, collaborative relationships with project sponsors, business stakeholders, SMEs and internal and external delivery teams, including strong working partnerships.
- Prepare clear sponsor and Steering Committee packs, concise status reports, decision papers, recommendations and escalation summaries that set out progress, risks, issues, decisions required, options and recommended actions.
- Constructively challenge sponsors and stakeholders where needed, helping to drive decisions, resolve blockers and maintain delivery momentum.
- Communicate clearly and consistently, tailoring messages for different audiences to support confidence, transparency and informed decision-making.
- Facilitate project meetings, decision-making forums and governance discussions to maintain alignment, accountability and momentum.
Lead project teams and drive change
- Create a positive and collaborative and delivery-focused environment across project teams.
- Bring structure, energy and focus to cross-functional delivery, helping teams stay aligned on priorities, decisions and outcomes.
- Lead teams through change by creating clarity, encouraging accountability and building shared ownership of delivery and adoption outcomes.
- Work with business stakeholders, SMEs and delivery partners to ensure readiness, engagement, training, hyper care and post-go-live support are understood, planned and actively managed.
- Support stakeholders in defining adoption measures and benefits tracking, ensuring change is embedded sustainably after implementation and lessons learned are captured.
Contribute to the PM Practice
- Actively contribute to the Project Management Practice by sharing lessons learned, supporting peers and promoting best practice.
- Use agreed PM standards, tools and governance processes consistently.
- Bring curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset to how projects are delivered.
- Contribute to a learning culture by sharing experience, feedback and ideas.
