About the role

• Lead client engagements that help private equity investors and technology businesses understand, improve and create value from technology.
• Bring the judgement and communication skills of a trusted consultant: frame the question, lead senior client conversations, synthesise evidence and tell a clear, decision-useful story.
• Apply genuine technology depth to assess strategy, product and engineering capability, architecture, delivery performance, data, cyber risk, scalability, technical debt and operating model.
• Translate technical findings into commercial implications for growth, customer outcomes, margin, investment risk, timing, capital requirements and value creation.
• Develop a recognised functional specialism and use it to bring differentiated insight to clients. Specialisms may include product and engineering, software architecture and cloud platforms, data and AI, cybersecurity, software delivery or technology operating model.
• Work collaboratively with investment teams, management teams and Crosslake colleagues across technical, commercial, operational and financial workstreams.

Role responsibilities

• Independently lead complex client engagements from scoping through to high-quality delivery, balancing client service, project management, team leadership and commercial awareness.
• Build credibility quickly with senior investors, boards and management teams through sound judgement, clear communication and an ability to make complex issues accessible.
• Deliver concise reports, executive presentations and workshops that connect technology findings to the decisions clients need to make.
• Lead technical due diligence work that identifies material risks and opportunities, then help clients prioritise practical post-deal value-creation actions.
• Contribute to broader commercial diligence, investment thesis and value-creation engagements where technology is central to the business case.
• Develop and apply a functional specialism while maintaining enough breadth to lead integrated client discussions and direct multidisciplinary teams.
• Support the growth of Crosslake through excellent client relationships, repeat work, thoughtful proposition development and mentoring of colleagues.

What we’re looking for

• 10+ years of relevant experience in technology consulting, technology due diligence, technology strategy, digital transformation or technology leadership.
• A track record of leading client-facing workstreams or engagements, including managing senior stakeholders and producing high-quality, decision-ready outputs.
• Strong technology fundamentals and demonstrable depth in at least one functional specialism, such as product and engineering, architecture and cloud, data and AI, cybersecurity, delivery or technology operating model.
• An experience spike in a business domain – e.g. Insurance, capital markets, healthcare, logistics and supply chain,
• The ability to move confidently between technical detail and business discussion, identifying the issues that genuinely matter to a client or investment case.
• Experience with private equity, transaction advisory, corporate development or high-growth technology businesses is strongly preferred.
• Excellent structured thinking, written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to turn complex analysis into a compelling, clear narrative.
• A collaborative and action-oriented style, with the confidence to challenge constructively and the curiosity to learn beyond an initial area of expertise.
• An entrepreneurial mindset and appetite to build client relationships, lead teams and grow into broader commercial and technology value-creation work.
