Summary: The Project Accountant supports financial reporting, accounting systems, and ERP-related initiatives by serving as a key liaison between Finance, IT, and external vendors. This role helps ensure project deliverables meet accounting requirements, financial data remains accurate, and system changes are properly tested and validated. The position also supports month-end accounting activities, reconciliations, audits, and process improvements that strengthen the efficiency and reliability of the Finance function.
Description:
- Lead all finance and accounting-related contributions to IT development work, including developing testing plans, maintaining project timelines for the Finance department, and tracking the progress of deliverables
- Review financial data to ensure it follows generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Independently review, test, and validate journal entries, financial reports, and payment processing for accuracy
- Provide solutions for identified project risks, delays, resource concerns, and potential accounting issues
- Coordinate user testing and validation of new accounting functionality
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
- Serve as Finance liaison for all assigned projects
- Provide regular project updates to all levels of leadership
- Support ERP, accounting system, financial reporting, and technology-related initiatives
- Complete and analyze data reconciliation and accuracy during system conversions
- Review existing accounting workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
- Help standardize accounting processes across departments and business entities
- Assist with year-end audit requests
- Support with department budgets, as needed
- Cross-train and act as backup for other Finance team members
- Other duties as assigned by management
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Strong project management, organizational, and documentation abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with accounting and non-accounting individuals
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Requirements:
- 4-year college degree in Accounting or a Business degree with a concentration in accounting
- 3-4 + years’ experience with general ledger, month-end close, and account analysis
- 3-4 + experience working with ERP or financial systems
- Results-oriented and ability to meet assigned deadlines

This is a hybrid role, with some days remote and some days on-site (typically 3 per week) in our office at 9127 S. Jamaica St., Englewood, CO 80112. When working in the office, we follow CDC guidelines.
