The Production Scientist I (Blood Virus) position is responsible for manufacture and testing of Blood Virus (BV) Reagent kits as we deliver new assays for our business.

This position reports to BV Manager and is part of the Production Operations department located just outside Tulla in Lismeehan, O'Callaghan Mills, Co. Clare and will be an on-site role.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Play a key role in the manufacture of Blood Virus Reagent Kits that support important diagnostic testing worldwide.

  • Investigate product and process issues, helping to identify root causes and drive effective solutions that maintain the highest quality standards.

  • Perform in-process testing and quality checks, ensuring products consistently meet specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, efficiency and team performance.

  • Develop your technical expertise while working with specialised manufacturing processes, equipment and testing methods.

  • Help shape and improve standard operating procedures and work instructions, ensuring they reflect best practice and operational excellence.

  • Operate, calibrate and maintain production equipment to support reliable and compliant manufacturing operations.

  • Work as part of a collaborative team dedicated to delivering high-quality products that make a meaningful difference to patients around the world.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelors Degree in a Science discipline with 2+ years experience in a technical field (science or engineering) and/or Compliance (Complaints, Quality or Regulatory)

Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • This is an active, hands-on role that requires standing and moving throughout the workday.

  • You'll work across manufacturing, laboratory and office environments, gaining exposure to multiple aspects of the production process.

  • The role involves working in cleanroom and controlled manufacturing areas, where adherence to PPE requirements and contamination control standards is essential.

  • You'll follow established processes and procedures while monitoring equipment performance and responding to routine operational issues.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety, quality and compliance are critical to success in this role.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing, laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device or diagnostics environment.

  • Knowledge of GMP, GDP or quality system requirements.

  • Experience operating, troubleshooting or maintaining manufacturing or laboratory equipment.

  • Experience performing investigations, root cause analysis or problem-solving activities.
