The Watts Internship Program is strategically designed to allow you the opportunity to utilize what you have learned in the classroom while gaining a true understanding of the business world by applying those key principles through hands-on experience. During the internship, students will gain exposure to and impact operations. There will be many chances to network with like-minded manufacturing and industrial engineering professionals and stimulate your mind through cross-departmental collaboration.  

Scope of Position

This innovative individual, as part of the Product Management team, will be responsible for providing daily and ongoing product and project support, including new product development coordination, product documentation, and collateral and label development. The Product Specialist Intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product launches, organize product information, and assist with product-related issues.

This position reports to the Senior Product Manager. This role is onsite and is based in Fort Worth, TX.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Product Management team with product documentation, label creation, and marketing collateral updates.

  • Support cross-functional teams during new product development by tracking tasks and maintaining project timelines.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Development to support new product launches and help keep projects on schedule and within budget.

  • Gather and organize product data, including specifications, product requirements, and feedback from internal teams.

  • Update databases and collect information to support the development of business cases.

  • Help identify and report product-related issues, working closely with Engineering and Customer Support.

  • Create product documentation and sales collateral for sales and technical presentations.

  • Support dashboard development and data analysis to help the team monitor product performance.

  • Learn and apply foundational product management principles under the guidance of the Senior Product Manager.

  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Senior Product Manager or Company management.

  • Demonstrate integrity, accountability, continuous improvement, and transparency by maintaining accurate product information, taking ownership of assigned tasks, identifying process improvements, and clearly communicating project updates.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student (sophomore, junior or senior status).

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Technical competency in understanding and preparing documentation for technical systems.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Passionate about your work, with a genuine desire to contribute meaningfully and make an impact.

  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity and respect in interactions with others, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership of tasks and following through on commitments.

  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering focus with a minor in Marketing or Business.

  • Interest in gaining experience in Product Management.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.

  • Experience with or exposure to Power BI, dashboard development, and data analysis through coursework, academic projects, or previous internships.

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Fort Worth, TX location (Monday – Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods.

  • Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.

  • Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.

Pay Range:

The expected hourly range for this position is $24-26. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable law.
