The mission of the Technical Development Department is to deliver consistency & precision in the fit and construction of every style fulfilling the creative vision.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Aritzia is growing and our Technical Development team is growing with it. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the team responsible for delivering on the Creative Design vision and Aritzia’s customer expectations through the consistency and precision of fit, garment construction, and quality of our product. As the Senior Director / Director, Technical Development, you will play a pivotal role in delivering Everyday Luxury by defining Aritzia’s fit, construction and quality standards, leading your team to collaborate cross-functionally with other departments and our factories. THE ROLE

As the (Sr.) Director, Technical Development Department, you will lead the team to:

• Work with the appropriate Business Support partners to seamlessly lead the day-to-day function of the department in support of corporate objectives, while enabling progressive career development and an incredible employee experience.
• Determine the approach for developing world-class fit and construction in every style.
• Ensure that our product delivers a consistent and world-class fit and size.
• Ensure that our product delivers consistent and world-class construction.
• Ensure clear and comprehensive instructions, aligned to our standards, that enable accurate sample development for every style.
• Validate that the physical sample aligns with our specifications and creative vision.
• Effectively manage and optimize the day-to-day operations of technical development.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The (Sr.) Director, Technical Development, has:

• Proven and best-in-class skills, applicable certifications, education and/or experience in:
  • Knowledge of 2D patternmaking and translation into physical garments
  • Sample measurement, construction, and execution evaluation 
  • Live model and dressform garment fitting assessment and corrections
  • Garment fit and construction communication using sketches, imagery, and technical language
  • PLM system and patternmaking software experience
• A commitment to learn, apply, champion and enrich Aritzia's Values and Business and People Leadership principles.
• The skills to collaborate strategically with cross-functional partners in the pursuit of shared business outcomes.
• The ability to set clear objectives and design a strategy that inspires the team.
• A dedication to quality and investing in results and new business opportunities that add value.
