The Role: 

Our site in Riegelwood, NC is seeking a Process Chemist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting batch manufacturing, new product development, scale up and continual improvement. The Process Chemist participates as part of the Site Leadership Team to drive Safety, Quality and Continual Improvement. This role will support and work on the second shift with flexibility between 11 AM-9 PM.

What You’ll Do: 

• Develop a strong working knowledge of processes ranging in scale from 5L to 1000 Gallons. 

• Execute standard batch manufacturing processes. 

• Process monitoring, troubleshooting and identification of deviations. 

• Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and yield. 

• Coordinate with management team to evaluate feasibility of new projects. 

• Write and revise SOP’s. 

• Accurate SAP order execution. 

• Maintain accurate, detailed records. 

• Communicate and present information in a clear, organized manner. 

• Operate forklift, pumps, valves, and other miscellaneous equipment. 

• Troubleshoot and perform minor routine maintenance as required. 

• May be required to adjust schedule to cover shifts or support implementation of new processes. 

• Demonstrated conformance to the Quality Management System. 

• Comply with safety and environmental requirements.  

• Work in a cross functional team to drive Safety, Quality and Continual Improvement.

• Other functions as requested by management. 

What We Seek: 

• BS Chemistry or related field required

• Experience interpreting analytical results 

• Experience with SAP

• Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace

• Strong organizational skills and meticulous documentation habits 

• Strong written and oral communication skills with experience presenting results

• Ability to multitask and prioritize

• Commitment to Safety and Continual Improvement

• Must be able to wear a respirator

• Ability to drive a forklift; training provided

• Position will require moderate physical effort with heavy lifting (50-lbs), walking, bending, loading items on shelves, shrink wrapping pallets, labelling drums, pails, or boxes and loading/unloading trucks with forklift

• Second shift  

Outstanding Candidates Will Have: 

• 2+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing preferred

• Experience with scale up

• SAP proficiency
