Raytheon’s Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Surface Radars & Sensors Center is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Systems Integration & Test Long Range Radars Department within the Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities Directorate.  The team is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer who will support one of a variety of Radar programs including AN/TPY-2, EWR, and OTHR. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving execution and efficient engineering practices across development, production, and sustainment programs. This role requires strong technical expertise and engineering leadership skills to drive the integration, test, and sustainment of a world-class air defense system. Every day will bring new challenges, requiring you to reprioritize your focus, collaborate across disciplines, and find the path forward to meeting our customers’ needs. Even an experienced engineering lead from a smaller team would find multiple areas for career growth in this role and discover something new every day.

 

What You Will Do

• Ensure the development and execution of a complex air defense program that consists of two primary IPTs. This work spans the entire systems engineering workflow including requirements management, system design, test planning, integration, and V&V.
• Manage/monitor the execution of work scope, determine team staffing allocations, and provide feedback on team execution.
• Coordinate across organizational disciplines and functions to identify team/work issues, resolve roadblocks and ensure completion of team objectives.
• Support program execution and growth through continuous improvement of people, processes, and tools.
• 10% local and non-local travel.
• This position can be based out of Tewksbury MA or Huntsville AL.

 

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.

• Experience with systems engineering, radar data analysis, integration, verification, validation and/or system testing.

• Experience with MATLAB, Python, Perl, C/C++, Linux, Unix, and/or other programming.

• Experience with technical and/or functional leadership.

 

Qualifications We Prefer

• Strong integration skills, knowledge of radar algorithms, radar signal processing concepts, theory, modeling and determining radar performance, air defense systems and team interaction skills.
• Experience with systems engineering, system integration, system verification, and/or system test.
• Experience with Cost Account Management (CAM), Integrated Master Plan (IMP)/Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Risk and Opportunity Management, and/or bids/proposals.
• Experience working in an integration lab, test facility, or in the field supporting integration and/or verification of RF systems while also managing various tasks, requirements, and commitments.
• Experience with DoD or similar major programs throughout the product lifecycle including compliance with DoD technology release and export licensing policies.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
