Physician-GI Medical Oncologist

Ochsner Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastrointestinal Medical Oncologist Physician.  Subspecialized practice focusing on cancers of the GI tract including gastro-esophageal, pancreatic, hepatobiliary, neuroendocrine, anal and colorectal malignancies.

Position Highlights:

• Join a growing group that includes 2 GI-specialized medical oncologists, 3 GI medical oncology advanced practitioners, GI radiation oncologist, 4 surgical oncologists and eight colorectal surgeons.
• Multiple GI cancer tumor boards take place each week for subspecialized care planning
• Ample on-site multi-disciplinary resources including nutrition, genetics, palliative care, integrative oncology, social work and nurse navigation
• Robust clinical trial portfolio from phase 1 to phase 3 with opportunity to be principal investigator and sub-investigator on studies
• Opportunities also exist for an academic track including protected research time or a more traditional clinically-focused role
• Physician will be involved in the education and training of hematology/oncology fellows at Ochsner (four per year) with academic and/or department leadership development available

Aside from inpatient and outpatient patient care responsibilities, candidates have the opportunity to participate in or develop clinical research studies, teach fellows and residents, and contribute to the development of the program. Subspecialty interest is encouraged but not required for consideration for the New Orleans Main Campus positions. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in hematology and oncology.
