Internship Program Overview:

Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries is seeking a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Electrical Engineering to support Process Design Kit (PDK) design manual development for silicon photonics technology. The intern will work with engineering teams to document design rules, publish user-facing technical manuals, and develop test patterns that support design rule validation.

Essential Responsibilities include:

• Assist in the development and documentation of design rules for silicon photonics technology.

• Publish and maintain silicon photonics design manuals with clear, accurate, and consistent technical content.

• Assist in designing ground rule violation test patterns to support rule verification and validation.

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to review technical requirements, incorporate feedback, and communicate project status.

Other Responsibilities:

• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

• Education – At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.

• Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.

• Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)

• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

• Engineering background relevant to CMOS process manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior related internship or co-op experience

• Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.

• Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong planning & organizational skills

• Academic or project experience in silicon photonics is a plus.

• Familiarity with semiconductor design rules, physical verification, technical documentation, or electronic design automation tools is a plus.
