Department Summary

Vanderbilt Health Walk-In Clinics provide convenient, high-quality urgent care for patients with non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries that require prompt attention. Staffed by a highly trained team of board-certified physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, the clinics diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions such as allergic reactions, animal bites, back pain, bronchitis, minor burns, bug bites, abscesses, and seasonal allergies. Open seven days a week with evening and weekend hours, Vanderbilt Health Walk-In Clinics offer accessible care across multiple Middle Tennessee locations. In addition to urgent care services, clinics provide on-site diagnostic testing and treatment options, including X-rays, EKGs, lab testing, physical exams, vaccinations, drug screenings, blood glucose testing, and other preventive and occupational health services. Patients benefit from seamless access to follow-up care through Vanderbilt Health’s extensive network of primary care providers and specialists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proficiently performs all Associate Patient Service Specialist job responsibilities.
• Schedules appointments and procedures through clinical communication, work queues, and patient portal messages
• Manages registration and patient work queues.
• Coordinates with patients and/or outside facilities to ensure all pre-appointment orders and consults have been received and ready to view prior to patient visit.
• Communicates with patients through the patient portal using critical decision making to route appropriately as applicable.
