At Cleveland Clinic, we prioritize a comprehensive, holistic approach to wellness that encompasses all areas of care, including advanced Physical Therapy services. As an Outpatient Physical Therapy Assistant, you support this mission by applying a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of functional limitations, impairments, and disorders. This position will be primarily based at South Rehab, which offers specialized services such as aquatic therapy. This role is critical in ensuring patients feel at their best, empowering them to take control of their treatment. Every day, you can make a lasting difference in their lives, all while gaining extensive hands-on experience and finding your place within an innovative healthcare system.  

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days varying between 8:00AM - 4:30PM.

Martin South will be the primary work location, but floating to other locations such as Tradition and Hobe Sound will be required, as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assisting 

• Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the state of Florida 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

• Internship experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Prior aquatic PT experience

• Neurorehabilitation training experience such as in Parkinson’s disease

• Outpatient experience

• EPIC experience

Physical Requirements:

• Work is medium/frequent, lifting and carrying equipment, supplies and materials up to 50 pounds without help of mechanical devices or other personnel.

• Stooping, pushing, reaching and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment.

• WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS OF POSITION: The occupant of this position spends 98% his/her time in air-conditioned areas, the remainder in outside areas.

• The potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens is present while completing clinical duties.

• This position requires reasoning, mathematical and English language skills. Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests. Ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively.

• Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities. Self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work.

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
