Overview

The Operations Strategy Associate role is a generalist role at Clipboard suited for the “all-around athlete” type who wants exposure to a range of problems and opportunities.

You’re likely someone who’s interested in and capable of solving different problem types, you’re resourceful, adaptable, and confident you can figure it out if you can sink your teeth in deep enough. These are the ingredients for a problem-solver who is eager to flex into multiple different types of roles and responsibilities depending on what’s needed and most impactful.

While we know that you'll likely start working within one of our Operations teams, we don’t know exactly what work or projects you’ll drive out of the gate, so you’ll notice the work we’re advertising isn’t entirely specific. Some candidates may begin in more execution-focused roles within Operations, depending on their strengths, while others may take on project or team leadership earlier on.

But we’ll make a few promises about the role: it will be high-impact, fast-paced work that directly affects our customers, product, and business.

What you’ll Be Doing

• Analyze operational data to spot trends and bottlenecks, and build dashboards, reports, and models that guide business decisions.

• Research, evaluate, and implement new technologies, including AI, automations, and internal tools, to make operations more effective.

• Design processes, workflows, and operating procedures that improve efficiency, quality, and customer experience

• Lead cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives from planning through execution, partnering with Operations, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and other teams.

Here are a few projects you might own:

• Redesign how we reach out to workplaces about switching payment methods, such as moving check-paying customers to eCheck, to speed up cash collection.

• Research, vet, and onboard a vendor that brings AI agents into our customer-facing operations.

• Build a predictive model that flags high-risk payers early and accurately, so we can act before payments go overdue.

• Take over a team of agents within one of our Operations teams and improve its performance, quality, and workflows.

What you’ll Need

• 2+ years of work or internship experience, including but not limited to cross-functional roles such as Strategy/Business/Product Operations, Program Management, Consultancy or Business Analytics.

• Experience solving operational problems by improving processes, designing workflows, or building scalable systems, while juggling multiple priorities in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

• Strong data analysis skills with hands-on experience in SQL, Python, or similar tools.

• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex problems simply and align stakeholders across teams.

• A deep curiosity that drives you to reason from first principles and dig until you find the root cause.

• The habit of rolling up your sleeves and going to the source. You don't just take someone's word for it; you find out for yourself by testing the feature, listening to the agent call, calling the customer, or running the workflow.

We are hiring multiple people and will continue hiring indefinitely for this role. We won’t close the funnel prematurely based on other candidates, but may periodically pause applications due to volume. We will hire everyone who meets our threshold of excellence and hope you meet our criteria.
