In Manitowoc we heavily support automotive customers with flexible sound barrier and non-carpet flooring sheet. Our sound barrier product also is used in building and construction and energy markets for sound control applications. Manitowoc also produces black color concentrate pellets which are used in our customers process to color their end products.

The Operations Manager will lead and manage assigned shift or production area operations to deliver safety, quality, output, cost, and delivery results. Provide hands-on leadership to a team of direct-report technicians and operators. Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, equipment reliability, strong safety culture, training readiness, and disciplined execution of production plans. Partner with supporting functions (safety, maintenance, materials, quality, engineering) to resolve issues quickly and achieve site goals. The shift supervisor/leads and trainers will report to the Operations Manager.

Essential Job Duties:

• Champion a strong safety culture. Enforce safety standards and procedures, participate and lead in safety audits and incident response, and drive actions that reduce risk and eliminate injuries.
• Lead regular performance reviews and status updates with leadership and cross-functional partners. Responsible for assuring SOP and training plans are developed and executed.
• Drive team constructively to achieve monthly output, customer service, and cost targets to ultimately achieve margin at, or above, plan. Drive a stretch mentality to exceed targets. Alignment of individual goals to customer centric metrics.
• Uphold quality standards and systems. Ensure process discipline, support ISO or equivalent quality requirements, and drive reduction in cost of quality and defects. Build quality into production (vs. an inspect-out bad quality mentality).
• Manage shift staffing, work assignments, training plans, overtime, and coverage. Ensure the team has the skills and resources needed to sustain performance.
• Conducts performance reviews for direct reports and ensures performance reviews are conducted for all operations personnel; recommends wage increases and promotions; identifies and prioritizes personnel developmental needs; conducts disciplinary discussions as required.
• Maintain accurate production, quality, and safety records. Communicate clearly with internal customers, peers, and leadership.
• Training personnel on critical systems, i.e. SAP, eMaint, MeasurLink, Acadia.
• Drive continuous improvement using structured methods (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, structured problem-solving, TPM). Lead or support projects that improve safety, quality, cost, equipment availability, and throughput.
• Provide direct leadership, coaching, training, and development to technicians and operators. Set clear expectations, conduct performance management, and build a high-performing, accountable team.
• Perform other duties as assigned. Regular on-site attendance required, including shift schedules as needed.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5 years' experience in the manufacturing industry,
• 5 years' experience managing direct reports, and leadership experience.
