What does the job involve?

The Greater Wash (GRW) unit of the North Sea Region (NOS) has responsibility for the safe and efficient operations of the Dudgeon (402MW), Hywind Scotland (30MW) and Sheringham Shoal (317MW) offshore wind farms.

As part of the NOS strategy to realise value from establishing geographical hubs, Great Yarmouth will serve as the central operations base from which operations and maintenance (O&M) activities for both Dudgeon and Sheringham Shoal will be managed.

The new model will establish a shared logistical concept whereby a Service Operations Vessel (SOV) and Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) are used to carry out operations. Operations on the assets will be carried out under a common set of safety rules and resources will be given the necessary training to be able to work across both wind farms enabling greater flexibility. Integrating the two assets will set up the GRW for further scale and value creation and growth opportunities such as the Dudgeon and Sheringham Shoal Extension projects.

The applicant's primary role will be to support operations at the Dudgeon offshore wind farm. The position is based offshore on a Service Operations Vessel (SOV) and follows a 14-days-on/14-days-off rotation, working 12-hour shifts throughout each offshore deployment period.

What will my tasks be?

Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

• Understands and apply discipline expertise within: 
  • Fault codes and interrogation of fault reporting from 3rd parties (IOC/TCM). 
  • SCADA/automation specialist. 
• Experienced troubleshoot technician DD platform. 
• Continual/maintain Troubleshoot training and competence. 
• Utilise SAP (Digital Worker) to record work and raise defects. 
• Quality assures content of Work Orders and Work release process. 
• Conduct inspections, servicing and troubleshooting on 6MW DD WTG. 
• Participate/support vendor meetings and the Asset engineer. 
• Support knowledge and competency sharing between shifts and teams. 
• Lead team and carry out toolbox talks/work audits and other relevant tasks as well as deputise for Senior tech as and when required. 
• Responsible for tool maintenance, management and reporting. 
• Assist in control of any incidents on site in accordance with site emergency response plan. 
• Work proactively with third party contractors at site including escort duties. 
• Support in SOV stores when necessary. 
• Mentor for training technicians.

Required Competence: 

• A minimum 2+ years’ experience at authorised technician level within either Electrical/Electronic, Automation or Mechanical with a preference for electrical.  

• Deep knowledge in SCADA/operating systems and how to use data to predict faults and suggest improvements. 

• Maintain Authorized technician competence. 

• Is an expert in fault finding of the relevant WTG platform and expert in using OEM tools. 

• Willingness to train and develop competence across WTG types (3.6 & 6MW DD). 

• Willing to train to develop competences across preventative and corrective tasks. 

• Strong commitment to safety culture. 

Required Qualifications: 

Authorised Technicians 2 – B2: will need to have completed the relevant qualifications with the following additions: 

• City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ – Electrical Power Engineering / Mechanical or equivalent with a preference for electrical. 

• SGRE DD L7 Authorised Technician. 

• Basic Hydraulics principles (Fluid application). 

• IOSH qualification (managing safely) preferred. 

• GWO offshore wind trained and offshore medical and Chester step. 

• GWO Advanced WTG rescue preferred.
