Location: London (Hybrid) | Practice Area: Technology & Engineering | Type: Permanent
Start Date: 1st February 2027 - you must be available to join on this date in order to participate in the induction and follow-on training provided.
Fast-track your career in technology consulting through one of Capco's flagship early careers programmes.
The Role
Our Next Generation Fellowship Programme is designed for exceptional recent or upcoming doctoral graduates who want to apply their research expertise to solving complex business and technology challenges.
Running for over ten years, the programme accelerates technically gifted individuals into consulting careers, providing opportunities to work alongside experienced consultants, former fellows, and industry experts on some of the most innovative transformation programmes in financial services.
As a Fellow, you will bridge the gap between business strategy and technology implementation, helping clients solve complex challenges through research, analysis, innovation, and technology. You’ll also explore how approved AI tools, automation, and AI-enabled ways of working can improve the speed, quality, and insight of your work, while applying human judgement and responsible AI practices.
The variety of work means no two projects are the same, allowing you to develop expertise across multiple domains while shaping your own career path.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to technology strategy, digital transformation, cloud adoption and modernisation programmes for financial services clients.
- Apply research, analysis and structured problem-solving to market analysis, proposition design and complex business and technology challenges.
- Support projects involving artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, cybersecurity, resilience, sustainability and large-scale transformation.
- Use approved AI tools and AI-enabled workflows where appropriate to accelerate research, analysis, prototyping and delivery, while maintaining human oversight, appropriate review and responsible AI guardrails.
- Help design and test new fintech ventures, innovation pilots and proofs of concept, collaborating with technical and business stakeholders throughout delivery.
What We’re Looking For
- A doctorate (PhD, EngD, or equivalent), in a STEM discipline, alongside a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree or international equivalent.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the confidence to demonstrate leadership when appropriate and work effectively across different stakeholder groups.
- Adaptability, intellectual curiosity and a genuine passion for learning, innovation and solving complex problems.
- Curiosity about using approved AI tools and automation to improve productivity and insight, combined with sound human judgement and an understanding of the importance of responsible use, review and escalation where needed.
Bonus Points For
- Knowledge of technologies used within financial services, including cloud computing, AI (including Generative AI and Agentic AI), machine learning, blockchain or modern software engineering.
- Awareness of financial services trends such as digital banking, fintech innovation, payments, sustainability, digital assets or emerging lending models.
- Programming or software development experience, particularly in prototyping, modelling, machine learning, data analysis or proof-of-concept development.
- Experience collaborating with technical and business stakeholders in research, commercial or practical environments.
- Commercial or practical business experience gained through internships, entrepreneurship, research commercialisation, or leadership roles in societies or organisations.
The majority of our clients are located close to our offices; however, travel to client sites may be required depending on project needs.
