Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze laboratory data flow and identify opportunities for automation.

• Support the design and implementation of a research-data environment.

• Develop or adapt scripts and interfaces for importing and organizing scientific data.

• Define and test metadata structures that connect experiments, samples, materials, and measurement results.

• Evaluate solutions together with scientists and lab users and incorporate feedback.

• Document workflows, technical decisions, and user guidance.

• Present project results and recommendations to (international) stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a master’s program in computer science, electrical engineering, information systems, or a related discipline.

• Basic programming experience, preferably in Python.

• Interest in research-data management, and laboratory and workflow automation.

• Structured and careful working style with attention to documentation and data quality.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with scientists and lab users.

• Good written and spoken English.

Advantageous Qualifications

• Experience with SQL, Linux, databases, APIs, or data-transformation workflows.

• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems, electronic laboratory notebooks, or FAIR data principles.

• Experience handling data from different instruments or file formats.

• Interest in battery technology, materials science, or practical laboratory workflows.

• German-language skills are helpful but not required.
