About the Role
Charm is seeking an MRO Buyer to establish and manage the procurement and inventory processes needed to support reliable day-to-day plant operations. This role will ensure that maintenance materials, spare parts, consumables, tools, PPE, and facility supplies are available when needed while building a scalable MRO purchasing function that improves supplier reliability, inventory visibility, and cost control. The MRO Buyer will work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, Inventory, Facilities, and Finance to support commissioning, preventive maintenance, and ongoing plant operations while identifying and mitigating material and supply-chain risks. This role reports to the Senior Procurement Manager and will own MRO purchasing activities, supplier relationships, critical spare parts, replenishment strategies, and the associated procurement and inventory processes within its scope.
Your Responsibilities

Build and manage Charm's MRO procurement function, including standardized processes for requisitions, sourcing, purchasing, receiving, and invoice resolution.

Source and onboard reliable local and national suppliers for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, industrial consumables, spare parts, tools, PPE, and facility supplies.

Issue and manage purchase orders, including pricing, quantities, lead times, delivery requirements, and applicable commercial terms.

Negotiate pricing, volume discounts, payment terms, lead times, MOQ requirements, freight, and other commercial agreements with suppliers.

Establish preferred supplier relationships, purchasing agreements, blanket POs, catalogs, and other purchasing mechanisms where appropriate.

Manage supplier relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for MRO purchasing-related issues.

Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, pricing, and service.

Partner with Facilities, Operations, and Engineering to identify critical equipment, critical spare parts, long-lead components, and preventive maintenance material requirements.

Develop and maintain critical spare parts lists for newly installed equipment and operating plant systems.

Establish appropriate min/max quantities, reorder points, stocking levels, and replenishment strategies for critical MRO materials.

Monitor stock levels of critical consumables, including lubricants, welding supplies, PPE, fasteners, tools, and other frequently used materials.

Develop and implement Kanban, two-bin, consignment, vendor-managed inventory, or other replenishment strategies where appropriate.

Identify and mitigate MRO supply-chain risks, including long-lead items, sole-source components, obsolete parts, supplier constraints, and material shortages.

Coordinate daily with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, Inventory, Facilities, and Finance to identify urgent material requirements and prevent plant interruptions.

Expedite critical and delayed MRO materials to support commissioning, maintenance activities, and plant operations.

Track open purchase orders and provide visibility into expected delivery dates, shortages, supplier risks, and critical material requirements.

Maintain accurate MRO item, supplier, pricing, lead-time, manufacturer part number, supplier part number, and unit-of-measure information within Net Suite or Charm OS.

Support the implementation and ongoing management of MRO inventory within Charm's operational systems..

Establish and maintain appropriate inventory controls, including labeling, part identification, storage, replenishment, and inventory accuracy.

Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers and reduce unnecessary purchasing channels and maverick spend.

Identify cost-reduction opportunities through competitive bidding, supplier negotiations, alternate sourcing, volume leverage, and strategic supplier agreements.

Develop contingency plans and alternate sourcing strategies for critical MRO materials and suppliers.

Partner with Maintenance and Engineering to support preventive maintenance programs by ensuring required parts and consumables are available when needed.

Support new equipment installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up by establishing required spare parts and MRO materials before equipment is placed into operation.

Manage the order-to-pay lifecycle, including PO creation, supplier follow-up, receipt discrepancies, invoice issues, and purchasing documentation.

Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, safety requirements, quality requirements, and applicable contractual requirements.

Develop and maintain MRO procurement SOPs, work instructions, and standardized processes as the function evolves.

Provide management with reporting and analysis on MRO spend, supplier performance, stockouts, emergency purchases, inventory levels, open orders, cost savings, and procurement risks.

Identify excess, obsolete, duplicate, or inactive MRO inventory and develop appropriate disposition or reduction strategies.

Continuously improve MRO procurement and inventory processes to support Charm's transition from startup operations into a scalable manufacturing organization.

Strong procurement, purchasing, or inventory management experience within a manufacturing, industrial, plant, or operations environment.

Ability to work directly with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and plant personnel to understand technical requirements and translate them into effective purchasing actions.

Ability to build and improve procurement and inventory processes where formal processes may not yet exist.

Ability to work independently and take ownership of MRO material availability and supplier issues.

Basic mechanical and electrical technical aptitude, including the ability to understand part descriptions, equipment manuals, schematics, specifications, and manufacturer information.

Strong attention to detail around part numbers, quantities, units of measure, pricing, lead times, and delivery requirements.

Ability to prioritize responsibilities and comfort with multi-tasking in a fast-paced, ever-changing, ambiguous environment.

Start-up experience with the ability to build MRO procurement, inventory processes, systems, and SOPs in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Manufacturing or industrial MRO experience, including purchasing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, maintenance, facility, and industrial consumable requirements.

Experience supporting plant commissioning or manufacturing ramp-up, including establishing critical spare parts and initial MRO inventories.

Experience managing industrial maintenance contractors and service providers.

Experience developing MRO spend reporting and inventory KPIs, including stockouts, emergency purchases, inventory accuracy, supplier performance, and cost savings.
