About the opportunity

Nangnak Baban Murrup (meaning ‘Nurturing Mothers Spirit’) is a clinic providing care and support for women who are pregnant with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander baby. We are seeking a dedicated midwife to work within the MGP model to provide care to women in this program.

You will be someone with excellent communication and advocacy skills who is passionate about working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. You’ll have a demonstrated understanding of cultural safety and the issues affecting the health outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and newborns, as well as a general understanding of the social determinants of health.

As a Nangnak Baban Murrup Caseload Midwife you will value family‑centred care and working with Community, both within the Mercy Health and our Aboriginal Programs Team and with external Aboriginal health services.

• Provide quality client-focused care to patients, their family and carers, using a holistic approach
• Assessment and monitoring of patients' physical and mental state
• Be part of a multi-disciplinary team which requires you to provide highly responsive and flexible service to consumers and carers

• experience working in Aboriginal Programs

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

• A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
• Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
