Caterpillar’s Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

Job Purpose:
IDES currently has an opening for a Manufacturing Quality Lead. This position is located in Wuxi, China with responsibility for the in-process quality, pre-delivery quality, and quality issues related to battery manufacturing at customer side. The incumbent will report to the Director of Battery Manufacturing. The incumbent will partner with and provide technical manufacturing and assembly quality process guidance to global engineering and supplier partner teams, recognizing that this position faces ongoing change – increased competitive pressures, increasing product complexity, and ever-increasing customer demands. You will lead the quality management of complex projects, continually monitor internal and external supplier quality. You will mentor, coach, and assign daily tasks to team members and suppliers to improve both incoming and outgoing quality.  

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
•    Performing quality reviews and internal audits; evaluating data and writing reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
•    Monitoring engineering processes and products for adherence to company and regulatory standards and practices; participating in quality improvement initiatives and projects.
•    Analyzing statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.
•    Recommending modifications to existing quality or production standards and manufacturing process and equipment/tooling to achieve optimum quality.
•    Conducts investigations and analyses which contribute to the development and implementation of methods, procedures and equipment that ensure quality standards for parts and prime products.
•    Supporting quality metrics across multiple product families such as battery module, strings, and pack / groups, inverters, chargers, and other power electronics.

Degree Requirement
Four-year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related Industrial, Manufacturing, Quality, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering/Technology curriculum

Quality Management System (QMS): Knowledge of Quality Management System's (QMS) functions, features, and capabilities; ability to design, implement, test, and maintain Quality Management Systems to consistently meet customer requirements and regulatory compliances.
Level Working Knowledge: 
• Adheres to the process, requirements, and documentation associated with QMS.
• Contributes to the development of business case analysis for a new QMS functionality in the system.
• Explains and analyzes quality indicators and metrics relevant to one's business unit or function.
• Monitors key interfaces and criticalities related to QMS.
• Reviews various QMS products and service providers available in the market and lists their applications.

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Level Working Knowledge: 
• Provides prompt and effective responses to client requests and interactions.
• Monitors client satisfaction levels on a regular basis.
• Alerts own team to problems in client satisfaction.
• Differentiates the roles and responsibilities in a business relationship.
• Works with clients to address critical issues and resolve major problems.

Additional Information:
•    This position is located in Wuxi, China. 
•    Moderate travel (25-50%) will be required as necessary, with more travel occurring during the first few years as the IDES Manufacturing footprint is developed. 
•    Relocation assistance is NOT available.
•    This position requires working onsite 5 days per week.
•    Excellent English speaking and written communications skills are required.
