The Opportunity
The Merchandising & Planning Associate is a critical connective role, ensuring product data, reporting, and cross-functional materials stay accurate, current, and aligned across Merchandising, Planning, Product Development, and Design. This role owns the operational rigor behind both product strategy and financial execution — from item setup and sample management to sales/margin reporting and inventory tracking — while also keeping a pulse on the competitive landscape to inform seasonal decision-making.
This is a role for someone with 2–5 years of relevant experience who is looking to grow. nuuds is scaling quickly, and we're looking for someone who can operate with rigor in the day-to-day while building the judgment and business context to take on more strategic ownership as the role — and the company — evolves.
Key Responsibilities
Product Data & Lifecycle Management
Own item setup and item maintenance, ensuring product data is accurate and complete across systems
Maintain categorical line sheets, historical archives, and structural data points for the assortment
Organize, track, and maintain product samples for line reviews, market meetings, and photoshoots
Assist with style and color naming ahead of line review, ensuring names align with nuuds' established naming conventions (e.g., no "The" prefix, place/mood-based names, shared name roots for paired items)
Proof wholesale line sheets and product information for accuracy prior to distribution
Reporting & Financial Support
Pull and distribute weekly/monthly reporting on sales, margin, and stock levels
Monitor replenishment SKUs and flag stock-out or reorder needs
Manage inventory uploads
Assist in assortment reporting and hindsighting
Help prepare data and presentations for seasonal buy and core reviews
Pull and organize sell-through-by-size data to support Planning's size curve development
Competitive & Market Intelligence
Stay on the pulse of competitive brands and market trends — pricing, product launches, positioning — and assist in ongoing competitive analysis to inform seasonal and core strategy
Support pricing insights and competitive price benchmarking to inform Merchandising's pricing strategy — surfacing how nuuds' price points compare across the competitive set by category
Compile competitive insights into a consistent, usable format for Merchandising and leadership review
Cross-Functional Alignment
Prepare decks and materials for milestone meetings and cross-functional needs
Ensure data consistency and alignment across Planning, Merchandising, Product Development, and Design — serving as a checkpoint so teams are working from the same numbers and timelines
Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to proactively surface delays or risks affecting replenishment or new style delivery, and help track resolution
Track and follow up on action items and decisions from buy meetings and line reviews, ensuring cross-functional partners are aligned on next steps
What You Bring
Experience & Skills
2–5 years of experience in merchandising, planning, buying, or retail operations
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formula-building); comfort learning new systems quickly
High attention to detail, with the organizational rigor to manage data and deadlines across multiple functions
Demonstrated curiosity about the retail/competitive landscape, with an interest in translating market observations into useful business insight
Comfort working cross-functionally and communicating clearly with Design, Production, Supply Chain, Operations, Ecomm, and Wholesale
A self-starter mentality — someone who can execute reliably today while building toward more strategic responsibility as the role grows
Experience with PLM, ERP, or planning systems a plus
Bachelor's degree preferred, not required
Growth Trajectory
As nuuds scales, this role is expected to grow in scope — from executing reporting and data management today toward greater ownership of competitive strategy input, cross-functional process design, and eventually a more senior Merchandising or Planning track, depending on where the person's strengths and interests lead.
