À propos de ce poste Medical Lead chez Montu UK
Are you an experienced doctor with a passion for developing others and delivering exceptional patient care?
At Montu, we are looking for a Medical Team Lead to join our growing Clinical team, combining clinical practice with the opportunity to lead, mentor and develop a team of doctors.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting others, has experience providing clinical guidance and supervision, and is confident in building strong working relationships with clinicians and consultants.
You will play a key role in supporting the professional development of our Junior Clinical Fellows (JCFs), helping them build confidence, develop greater clinical autonomy and deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
As we continue to grow, this is an opportunity to bring your clinical expertise and leadership skills into an evolving area of healthcare, helping to shape and support the next generation of clinicians while making a meaningful difference to patients' lives.
What is the job?
As a Medical Team Lead, you will provide day-to-day leadership, support and guidance to a team of clinicians, ensuring they are well-supervised, well-supported, and progressing safely towards greater clinical autonomy. You will act as the primary link between clinicians and consultants, coordinating supervision, escalation pathways, and feedback loops so that patient care stays safe and consistent.
You will combine your own clinical practice with people leadership, taking ownership of fellow development, consultant engagement, governance, and training within your team, while working alongside other Team Leads to keep standards consistent across the wider service.
You will be the first point of contact for JCF’s requiring guidance on professional or personal development and appraisal or revalidation. You will also act as a trusted contact for consultants raising concerns about supervision and workload.
What will you be doing?
Clinician Line Management
Act as the named line manager/lead for a cohort of clinicians, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, and pastoral support.
Conduct regular 1:1s with each fellow, tracking progress against objectives, competencies, and rotation/training milestones.
Identify clinicians who are struggling early, and put support plans in place in collaboration with consultants and HR/medical education leads.
Assist with the onboarding and induction experience for new clinicians — inductions, shadowing, buddy systems, and early check-ins.
Support the management of day-to-day workforce logistics for the clinicians: rota input, leave requests, sickness/absence, and shift coverage, working with the operations team.
Recognise and celebrate good performance, and manage underperformance or conduct concerns through appropriate, documented processes alongside our HR team.
Consultant Engagement
Build and maintain strong working relationships with consultants.
Act as the escalation point for consultants — surfacing concerns about supervision quality, caseload, or clinical support gaps.
Coordinate consultant and JCF annual appraisals or revalidation.
Gather and act on consultant feedback regarding clinical safety and any recurring themes.
Support scheduling and coverage conversations with consultants (clinics, on-call, teaching sessions).
Clinical & Patient Support
Act as a point of escalation for complex clinical cases and patient concerns.
Support clinicians through complaints, incidents, and governance issues involving their clinical decisions.
Provide direct clinical mentoring, and know when to route a case to a consultant.
Promote safe prescribing and adherence to clinical standards appropriate to clinicians’ training level.
Governance, Quality & Audit
Support compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across the fellow cohort.
Support clinical audits and quality improvement projects, involving clinicians in QI work as a development opportunity.
Analyse audit and incident themes specific to JCFs (e.g. common escalation triggers, training gaps) and use these to shape training priorities.
Work with governance and operational teams on regulatory readiness.
Operational Excellence & Change
Monitor clinician workload, rota adherence, professionalism and service coverage; flag risks early.
Contribute to process improvements that affect how fellows are supervised, escalate, or are trained.
Track and report on team performance metrics: fellow progression, incident trends, audit outcomes, consultant feedback themes.
Collaborate with other Team Leads to keep clinician management and consultant engagement approaches consistent across services.
Training & Education
Support the induction programmes for incoming clinicians from a medical perspective.
Identify individual and cohort-wide development needs, working with consultants and training and education teams to close gaps.
Involvement in the organisation and/or deliver teaching sessions and case reviews.
Champion a culture of learning, feedback, and continuous improvement across the fellow-consultant relationship.
This list is not exhaustive. As the business evolves, responsibilities may change and develop over time.
What do you need?
GMC registration with an active licence to practise and good professional standing.
Experience supervising, managing, or mentoring junior doctors/clinical fellows is desirable.
Experience working alongside or liaising with consultants in a clinical or operational capacity is desirable.
Understanding of clinical governance, incident management, complaints handling, audit, and quality improvement.
Confidence managing sensitive people-management conversations (performance, wellbeing, escalations).
Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence both junior and senior clinicians.
Experience working within digital healthcare, telemedicine, private healthcare, or fast-paced healthcare environments is desirable.
Comfortable using clinical systems, rostering tools, and healthcare technology platforms.
Adaptable, proactive, and solutions-focused, with a genuine interest in developing junior talent.
