MultiCare Cancer Institute is a physician-led, multi-specialty group within MultiCare Health System, delivering integrated hematology, oncology, radiation, surgical and supportive care across Washington state. Each year, we diagnose and treat more than 6,000 new cancer cases across Olympia, Spokane, Tacoma and Yakima. 

 

We bring together advanced pathology, imaging and evidence-based treatment with holistic supportive services to provide personalized, high-quality cancer care. As we continue to grow, we are building the Pacific Northwest’s most comprehensive and high-value oncology network—projected to double in volume over the next five years.

Position Summary

Provides clinical leadership and oversight of the MCI Urologic Oncology program. This person ensures high standards of care and compliance with medical guidelines. They work closely with the operational director in developing and implementing the overall services, operations and objectives. They play a key role as a content expert in developing and implementing strategic initiatives, while balancing clinical duties with leadership responsibilities.Responsibilities • Clinical oversight: Ensure the quality of patient care and adherence to clinical guidelines and protocols as well as ensuring there is hospital coverage in accordance with the bylaws. • Performance Management: Provide guidance and support to physicians and APPs, mentorship to new physicians/APPs, and promotes a culture of collaboration and excellence. Evaluate and manage the performance of medical directors, addressing issues of clinic productivity, patient satisfaction, and professional development. Addresses HeROs submitted with medical director concerns and supports improvement and accountability. • Quality Improvement: Plays a key role in quality improvement, clinical documentation integrity, and utilization management activities. Actively participates in process improvement initiatives • Strategic Planning and Growth: Develop and implement long term plans for the division’s growth, including recruitment, program expansion, and outreach. • Cross Specialty Collaboration: Coordinate with other division directors to optimize interdisciplinary care and shared services • Assists as needed with the resolution of patient care problems such as, but without limitation, patient access to care, emergencies and professional medical disputes involving patient care. Drives initiatives to support top decile patient satisfaction. • Actively participates in the development, maintenance, and period reviews of clinical guidelines, protocols, policies, procedures, order sets, and information systems that support the delivery of care. • Actively participate in performance measurement and process improvement activities, including but not exclusive to the following: Attends collaborative meetings within MHS and participates or delegates subgroup activities to appropriate department members. Cooperates and supports all regulatory/compliance statutes as may be required. Proactively works with physicians and administration to develop, implement, and monitor cost saving initiatives. Cooperates and works collaboratively with Quality Personnel. • Supports and models teaching to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups, and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care. • Meet routinely with the CMO/COO/CNE to partner, support, and promote division needs and initiatives • Performance Excellence goals Requirements • Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD or DO). • Licensure to practice medicine in Washington State as a physician. • Board certification in urology; fellowship trained urologic oncology surgeon • Previous leadership experience preferred • Formal leadership training preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $636,480.00 - $636,480.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
