À propos de ce poste Medical coordinator (F/M) chez Médecins du Monde

Médecins du Monde · Sur site · Sanaa, Sana'a City, Yemen

Do you want to join a committed, activist-driven organization and take meaningful action for social justice?
For over 40 years, Médecins du Monde has been delivering healthcare to the most vulnerable, challenging barriers to access, and driving long-term change in health policies.

In France and across nearly 30 countries, our work is built around six core missions:

  • Sexual and reproductive health and rights (including access to safe abortion)
  • Migration, exile, human rights and health
  • Harm reduction
  • Health and the environment
  • Healthcare systems
  • Humanitarian spaces

MdM in Yemen

Yemen remains one of the world's most severe humanitarian crises, after more than a decade of conflict, economic decline, climate shocks, and political instability. In 2026, over two-thirds of the population require humanitarian assistance, including 9.4 million people identified as most in need of life-saving support.

The health system is under extreme strain, with only 59.3% of health facilities fully operational and 19.3 million people requiring healthcare services, including more than 660,000 pregnant women in need of urgent care. Cholera continues to pose a major public health challenge, adding pressure to an already weakened system.

The operational environment remains highly volatile, marked by security incidents, service disruptions, funding cuts, and economic challenges that regularly affect humanitarian activities.

Médecins du Monde operates across northern and southern Yemen, with a coordination office in Sana’a and field offices in Aden and Marib. Its interventions focus on two strategic priorities:

  • Supporting 29 health facilities to deliver primary healthcare services, including outpatient care, vaccination, nutrition, and reproductive health.
  • Providing mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) through healthcare facilities and community-based networks trained in identification, referral, and awareness-raising activities.

About the role

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, adapting and reporting the quality medical program activities for the Yemen mission. You will ensure the relevance and quality delivery of all medical activities, and practices, with a particular focus on health data analysis. You are the technical supervisor for the medical team (MdM or implementing partners) within the mission.

You will take part in the country strategy elaboration for the medical sector led by the general coordinator.

Who you’ll work with

Under the supervision of the General coordinator, you will work alongside the deputy general coordinator, the HQ desk officer, the HQ medical, mental health, and protection advisors/referents. You will be the technical supervisor for the medical team: health activity managers, Marib medical supervisor and pharmacy advisor.

What you’ll do

Under the supervision of the General coordinator, your main responsibilities are the following:

  • Participate in the definition of the country strategy led by the general coordinator and drive the medical and technical aspects in the development of this strategy
  • Design, plan, implement, adapt and monitor the programme’s health activities
  • Ensure the quality and relevance of health activities, supervise the collection and analysis of medical data
  • Recruit, manage, train, and motivate the medical team
  • Ensure the management of pharmaceutical products
  • Carry out health needs assessments and evaluations of medical partners
  • Cooperate with the administration team regarding budgeting and supervise the medical purchase process
  • Represent MdM with authorities, partners and other NGOs on health issues
  • Participate in the writing of proposals and reports

Requirements

You are the right match if you...

  • Hold an MD qualification or an advanced degree in Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, or another relevant health discipline. Additional training in public health, epidemiology, project management, or humanitarian programme management is a strong asset
  • Have proven experience in humanitarian and/or development contexts, with at least 2 years in a similar role involving programme development, proposal writing, donor reporting, budget management, and donor compliance
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge in nutrition and sexual and reproductive health and rights, combined with a solid understanding of results-based management approaches, logical frameworks, and strategic planning
  • Are skilled in developing high-quality funding proposals, technical reports, and impact narratives in English, and have experience working with institutional donors and multi-donor funding mechanisms
  • Combine strong analytical, organisational, and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work autonomously, build capacity within teams, and collaborate effectively in multicultural environments
  • Speak English fluently. Arabic is highly appreciated.

This role may not suit you if you...

  • Are uncomfortable working in complex, unstable, or rapidly evolving humanitarian contexts that require flexibility, resilience, and adaptability
  • Prefer close supervision and highly structured processes rather than taking initiative, anticipating needs, and working independently
  • Do not have strong written English skills or experience producing donor proposals, narrative reports, and other high-quality programme documentation
  • Are not aligned with MdM’s values and activist approach
