Role Profile

The Markets Records Specialist will sit within the Markets Data Governance Office and support the delivery of the Markets record governance and regulatory record-keeping roadmap. The role will focus on embedding effective record governance across the Markets Division, supporting compliance with enterprise policy and applicable regulatory obligations, and providing specialist advice to business and functional stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an experienced records management professional with a proven track record of implementing effective records governance and regulatory record-keeping practices within complex financial services environments.

The successful candidate will combine strong records management expertise with practical delivery capability, sound judgement and the credibility to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.

This is a high-impact role requiring an individual who can translate policy and regulatory requirements into sustainable processes and controls, drive cultural change, and strengthen record governance across Markets.

You will be recognised for your ability to operate in ambiguity, influence across a global matrixed organisation and deliver measurable outcomes while maintaining high standards of risk management, compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

·     Act as a specialist adviser on record governance and regulatory record-keeping requirements across Markets.

·     Support the operational management of records management risk across Markets, ensuring effective governance, controls and alignment with enterprise risk appetite.

·     Embed record ownership, accountability and adherence to record retention, disposal and preservation requirements across the division.

·     Translate enterprise policies, standards and applicable regulatory obligations into practical record controls and business processes.

·     Assess records management arrangements, identify control gaps, and support the definition and tracking of remediation actions.

·     Support the implementation and adoption of enterprise records management tooling, including Microsoft Purview and iARM, where applicable.

·     Maintain oversight of record inventories, retention schedules, legal and regulatory holds, durable-medium requirements, and approved repositories.

·     Define, track and report record governance KPIs, KRIs, control performance and maturity measures.

·     Prepare clear governance reporting and insights for senior management, risk committees, and assurance activity.

·     Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Information Security and business stakeholders to address records-related risks and obligations.

·     Coordinate with Group functions and Business Lines to ensure consistent interpretation and execution of records requirements across Markets.

·     Support regulatory, audit, and assurance reviews by coordinating evidence and providing clear, traceable responses.

·     Deliver training, communications and advisory support to improve records awareness and strengthen compliance behaviours.

·     Build and foster communities of practice across records owners, coordinators and relevant control stakeholders.

·     Provide disciplined delivery management, including planning, action tracking, risk and issue management, and stakeholder communications.

Experience and Background

·     Significant experience in records management, information governance, or regulatory record-keeping within a highly regulated financial services environment.

·     Strong knowledge of record lifecycle management, including classification, retention, disposal, preservation, legal hold and defensible disposition.

·     Practical experience of designing, implementing or assuring record governance frameworks, policies, standards and controls.

·     Working knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory obligations, including financial services record-keeping requirements and privacy considerations.

·     Experience with electronic records management and compliance tooling, preferably including Microsoft Purview, iARM or comparable platforms.

·     Demonstrated ability to assess control design and operation, identify gaps, develop remediation plans, and maintain audit-ready evidence.

·     Ability to interpret complex policy and regulatory requirements and convert them into proportionate, scalable business processes.

·     Experience partnering with senior stakeholders across business, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology and assurance functions.

·     Strong domain understanding of financial markets or investment banking operations, including transaction lifecycles and associated record-keeping obligations.

·     Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce concise executive reporting and deliver effective training and guidance.
