Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $134,900.00 - $224,900.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Manager, Market Intelligence will demonstrate thought leadership and subject-matter expertise on the competitive sets facing CEI investment holdings as well as its Growth Operations businesses — proactively identifying market risks and opportunities across a set of businesses that don't share a single competitive set but do share common analytical needs.

This person provides expert counsel and advice on competitive dynamics, and is responsible for capturing, analyzing, and synthesizing competitive insights from various channels (earnings calls, analyst reports, press releases, industry associations, team members, etc.) across the growth portfolio. In addition to keeping a pulse on key competitive activity and implications, the Manager will play a key role in identifying adjacency and cross-portfolio patterns — for example, where energy policy, AI-driven automation, or climate-linked consumer behavior affect more than one Cox growth business at once. Activities will also support business planning, product development, and competitive response strategies for the businesses this role covers.

Job Responsibilities

• Research: stay current on the market and competitors across Cox Enterprises' Growth Operations businesses and CEI investment holdings; monitor news and industry developments on a regular cadence. Build areas of expertise and share knowledge with the broader CEI team.

• Competitive analysis: perform research and analysis on specific competitors and adjacent players across the sectors in which the covered businesses and holdings operate — market presence, business models, capabilities, and relevant dynamics.

• Cross-portfolio pattern recognition: identify and surface threats or opportunities with shared root causes that span more than one covered business or holding (e.g., energy policy and renewables economics, or climate-linked shifts in consumer behavior, affecting several at once).

• Content development: develop competitive briefs, quarterly landscape reports, and presentations for different audiences (business-unit leadership, CEI, executive team) with the appropriate level of detail; partner with business-unit stakeholders to create competitive battle cards and other enablement materials.

• Track market sizing, share shifts, and segment dynamics for assigned businesses; support M&A and investment validation research as needed, including diligence support for new venture investments.

• Financial analysis: read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, earnings releases, and operating metrics to assess competitor and adjacency performance, unit economics, and strategic intent — translating the numbers into implications for Cox businesses.

• Serve as the embedded intelligence contact for Growth Operations and investment-holding stakeholders, building the relationships needed to keep signal flowing in both directions.

• Effectively coordinate, capture, synthesize, and analyze competitive insights from various channels, maintaining robust competitor and adjacency profiles.

• Establish a strong network, including relevant industry groups, experts, and associations relevant to the sectors covered.

• Keep abreast of developments and best practices in the competitive intelligence field and maintain the professional competence needed to stay current.

• Proactively generate insights into the actions of key competitors and adjacent entrants, and provide structured, proactive thinking on potential responses.

• Proactively seek out ways to continuously improve the depth of insights, the quality and reach of deliverables, and the efficiency of the broader CEI Strategy team.

• Support ad hoc research requests and assume other responsibilities as they arise.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• BA/BS degree required + 8 or more years of relevant work experience
• OR MS degree + 6 years of experience
• OR Ph.D. degree + 3 years experience
• OR 12 + years of experience with no degree

• 5+ years of professional experience, preferably in competitive intelligence, corporate strategy, market research, or business consulting.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting financial statements and financial/operating metrics is required — including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, and the ability to derive and benchmark performance metrics from them.

• Comfort covering multiple, dissimilar competitive sets simultaneously rather than a single well-defined industry.
